Bioequivalence between two Prolonged Release Tablets of Desvenlafaxine Succinate in Healthy Subjects under Fasting and Fed Conditions
Bioavailability in different formulations of desvenlafaxine100 mg prolonged-release tablets was compared in two bioequivalence studies, one under fasting conditions and the other after a standard breakfast. Both studies were a single dose, randomized, open-label, two-period crossover, with Brazilian male and female healthy subjects. Blood samples were taken during 48 h and plasmatic concentrations were determined using a validated UPLC-MS/MS method.
Research in Fracture Healing and Its Clinical Applications in the Veterinary Practice
Bone healing is a complex process consisting of multiple sequential phases needing the coordinated interaction of various cells, growth factors, cytokines and mechanical conditions. However, bone healing is one of the rare regenerative processes resulting in complete restoration of form and function. Fracture treatment aims towards a swift return to functional use of the injured limb. Therefore stabilization is a key requisite. In the veterinary clinic difficult fracture cases often require a unique stabilization by custom made external fixation. While this fixation technique harbors risk factors it offers a high flexibility essentially needed to successfully treat small animal fracture patients. Here we draw the connection between the up-to-date knowledge in bone healing and case reports of external fixation techniques from the small animal practice with respect to benefits and risk factors.
The Importance of Brain MRI in the Diagnosis of Marchiafava-Bignami Disease
Marchiafava-Bignami disease (MBD) is a neurological disorder that has been found to be associated with chronic alcoholism and malnutrition. We report a 45 year old man, chronic alcoholic that developed discouragement for activities involving daily living, changes in retrograde memory in addition to mutism and gait instability. Brain MRI showed central atrophy of the corpus callosum(CC), hypointensity(necrosis) and ventricular dilation(white matter and subcortical region involvement).
A Case of Late-Onset Neurofibromatosis Speculated as Type 7
A 65-year-old woman developed freckling on her skin from axillary to inguinal regions at age 40. At age 55 and 63, she had respectively, a subcutaneous tumor from her right buttock and a left acoustic tumor removed, in both cases, histopathological analyses diagnosed a schwannoma. At age 65, she was admitted to our hospital for a detailed examination of an abdominal mass previously detected by MRI.
The Impact of Repeated Hb A2 Measurements on β-Thalassemia Trait Diagnosis
Hemoglobin A2 (Hb A2) is a minor component of the hemoglobin present in normal adult red blood cells, accounting for 1.5-3.5% of the total hemoglobin in healthy individuals.
Hereditary Spherocytosis and Venous Thrombosis of Atypical Site: A Triple Hematologic Disease?
A 22 year-old male with an unspecified family history of hematologic diseases was admitted complaining of chest pain.
Effects of Age and Sex on Sickle Cell Disease Avascular Necrosis
Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a hemoglobinopathy. Based on genotypes, it is classified into sickle cell thalassemia (SCTh) and sickle cell anemia (SCA).
Development and Validation of UV Spectroscopic First Derivative Method for Simultaneous Estimation of Dapagliflozin and Metformin Hydrochloride in Synthetic Mixture
The Novel, simple, sensitive, rapid, accurate and economical and reliable First derivative spectroscopic method has been developed
for synthetic mixture of Dapagliflozin (DAPA) and Metformin hydrochloride (MET).
Relative Bioavailability of Ciprofloxacin Doses (750 and 1000) mg in Healthy Male Volunteers by Using HPLC Method
A new, stable and accurate high performance liquid chromatography ultraviolet spectrophotometric method for quantitation of Ciprofloxacin in human plasma was developed and validated.
