26 women with HMB and scarred uterus were included in the study. Data regarding procedure completion, complications, hospital stay, success rate and failure of procedure necessitating hysterectomy was obtained. The majority of the patients had one C/S, 5 had two, one had 3 and two had 4 previous C/S scars. The procedure was completed in 84% of cases. Success rate was 68% (15/22) in the scarred uterus group and 32% (31.8%) (7/22) needed hysterectomy due to continuing heavy periods or pain. One woman in the scarred uterus group had uterine perforation (3.8%) needing overnight admission, all the rest of cases were done as a day procedure. A third (7/22)(32%) of women required a hysterectomy for persistent heavy bleeding or pelvic pain, all were with previous one C/S. The histology of the removed uterus confirmed leiomyomas with or without adenomyosis in all the cases explaining the possible cause of failed Novasure ablation.

Background: Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) in Brugada syndrome (BrS) has been performed both endocardially and epicardially. The substrate in BrS is thus unclear. Objectives: To investigate the functional endocardial substrate and its correlation with clinical, electrophysiological and ECG findings in order to guide an endocardial ablation. Methods: Thirteen patients (38.7±12.3 years old) with spontaneous type 1 ECG BrS pattern, inducible VF with programmed ventricular stimulation (PVS) and syncope without prodromes were enrolled. A 54 year old female presented for atrial fibrillation (AF) catheter cryoablation. She had experienced multiple pre-syncopal episodes prior to diagnosis and underwent a cardiac work-up including Holter monitor, transthoracic echocardiogram,stress test and tilt table test which was negative except for atrial fibrillation. She presented to the hospital for an AF ablation procedure under general anesthesia after transesophageal echocardiogram to rule out atrial thrombosis formation.

ImagingIntroductionMR contrast media have become an indispensable part of magnetic resonance (MR) imaging, but their roles in ablation therapies are still controversial. The interactions between physical/biological properties of MR contrast media (Longitudinal=T1, transverse=T2 and susceptibility=T2* relaxation times) and diseased tissues (perfusion, edema, hemorrhage and coagulative necrosis) play important roles in differentiating pathologic and ablated tissues.

Isoproterenol is frequently used to test therapeutic effectiveness post- catheter ablation procedure for atrial fibrillation. Preliminary data suggests that administration of isoproterenol increases the Bispectral index (BIS), implicating the CNS stimulatory effects of isoproterenol.

To detect the outcome and changes in uterine arteries blood flow after hysteroscopic roller-ball endometrial ablation. 84 women with menorrhagia refused to continue or had failed medical treatment with uterine size <12 weeks were included in this study. Diagnostic hysteroscopy was done for women included in this study prior to endometrial ablation. A rigid operative hysteroscopy, with normal saline distention media and roller-ball electrode were used for endometrial ablation procedure. Preoperative findings of studied women including Doppler findings were compared to 3, 6 and 12 months post-operative findings to detect outcome and changes in uterine arteries blood flow after hysteroscopic roller-ball endometrial ablation.

NovaSure® endometrial ablation is a successful therapy for patients with heavy menstrual bleeding who do not want to preserve fertility. However, endometrial ablation is not a contraceptive treatment. We report two cases of pregnancy after NovaSure® endometrial ablation. Case 1 is a pregnancy in a 44-year old woman.

In this paper we report our results on the green synthesis of nontoxic, stable, and small size gold nanoparticle suspensions. We used the single and two-beam laser to ablate a gold target submerged in deionized water containing chitosan or starch as the stabilizing agent. Since both chitosan and starch are biodegradable and biocompatible, use of these natural polymers for gold nanoparticle protection and stabilization does not introduce any environmental toxicity or biological hazards.
