The Challenge of Rapid Data Collection and Health Promotion: A Quick and Easy Approach

Rapid data collection can provide an insight into causation, the socio-cultural reality, and complex social processes. This is especially important in disease outbreaks when information is quickly required on local needs that is essential for success. Quantitative data alone are not sufficient to provide an in-depth understanding. The challenge is to use a rapid data collection approach that can provide practical solutions by integrating the available evidence, professional expertise, and stakeholder experiences. This viewpoint reflects the opinions of the author that highlight the strengths and weaknesses of rapid data collection and the presentation of an approach that can be implemented with minimal interference in a health promotion and healthcare program context

Artisanal Cannabis in Young and Adults Patients with Treatment Resistant Epilepsy: Prospective, Observational, Open-Label Study in Argentina

Background: A third of patients with epilepsy have a drug-resistant form. We aimed to observed whether addition of artisanal cannabis to existing anti-epileptic treatment would be safe, and efficacious in young and adults with drug-resistant epilepsy. Methods: Patients (aged 12-51 years) with severe, intractable epilepsy, who were receiving stable doses of antiepileptic drugs before study entry, were enrolled in an expanded-access programme at our epilepsy centre.

Evaluation of a Sexuality Education Program: A Peer-Led HIV Prevention Intervention in Argentina

Between 2010-2014, Fundacion Huesped and the Youth for Health Network implemented a sexuality education program, dance4life, in public schools in Argentina. A process evaluation was conducted in 2014 to assess the implementation of the program between 2010 and 2013, and make preliminary assessments of the impact on youth sexual and reproductive health.
