Enteric fever is a common infection of tropical countries that can have a variety of neurological complications. Reported neurological complications are encephalopathy, eningism, spastic paralysis-cerebral origin, convulsions, meningitis, parkinsonian syndrome, sensory motor neuropathy, cerebellar involvement, and schizophrenic psychosis. The patient, who was diagnosed with enteric fever and started treatment, developed headache and blurred vision 5 days after the treatment. Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis secondary to enteric fever and related pseudotumor cerebri were detected in the patient. When additional symptoms develop despite treatment in patients with enteric fever, complications such as thrombosis and pseudotumor cerebri should be considered.

Thyroid tissue samples of 200 patients who underwent total thyroidectomy, near total thyroidectomy and subtotal thyroidectomy for surgical management of multinodular goiter were designed our study. The surgical procedures were performed between January 2016 and December 2018 in general surgery department MUST University. Preoperative ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration cytology and the postoperative surgical specimens were delivered to pathology lab at MUST University 6th of October city, Giza. Patients with thyroid neoplasms, thyroiditis, toxic and recurrent goiter were excluded from the study. Personal and demographic data were collected and analyzed. Postoperative clinical complications and incidental neoplasms were evaluated. All the patients were followed up over 1 year for expected clinical complications, recurrence of goiter and appearance of neoplasms.

A needle breakage is a rare complication of an inferior alveolar nerve block, but it should represent an awkward experience both for the patient and the dentist. A broken needle in the pterygo mandibular region would be hard to remove and it may also have important medico-legal considerations. This is the case report of a 32-years old man, referred by his own dentist to the Maxillo-Facial department, after the needle broke during the routine administration of an inferior alveolar nerve block for a dental procedure. In this paper, authors present the successful removal of the fractured needle from the right pterygomandibular region under general anesthesia administration.

Granular cell tumor, also known as Abrikossoff tumor, is a rare lesion that arises from the nervous system. Most of these tumors are benign and only 1-2% are malignant. Although they can be found in any part of the human body, 45-65% appears in the head and neck region, mainly in the oral cavity. Here, we report 2 cases of granular cell tumor of the tongue, diagnosed by excisional biopsy. Until the present moment, both patients remain with no recurrence.

A sixty-year-old woman with no remarkable systemic disease came to our clinic due to blurred vision of right eye for one month. The best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was 0.2 in the right eye, while intraocular pressure, anterior segment, and optic disc of right eye were all normal. We present a case of total esophageal reconstruction with a free Jejunal flap in a patient with a history of esophagectomy and two previous failed attempts at reconstruction. Despite the technique here described offers a reliable option when the stomach and colon are not available, the success of the reconstruction might be compromised by the onset of a perforated ulcer at the gastric blind pouch related to previous failed gastric pull-up (GPU) After a major reconstructive surgery of long hours, gastric pouch may develop ulcer with perforation and fatal empyema due to stress, although the severe complication is rare.

Cocaine has acute and chronic effects on health as well as addiction and dependence and places a significant burden on healthcare systems. After cannabis, it is the most frequently used illicit drug worldwide. It is estimated that between 14 and 21 million people use the drug each year [1]. Its main adverse effects occur in the cardiovascular system. Cocaine causes sympathomimetic actions such as tachycardia, hypertension and coronary artery constriction due to enhancement of release of catecholamines. It enhances thrombus formation by activating platelets and potentiating thromboxane production [2]. The consequences of these effects include chest pain, myocardial infarction, aortic dissection, coronary artery aneurysm, myocarditis, cardiomyopathies and arrhythmias. Our case demonstrates a young patient who had a delayed presentation of a myocardial infarction, in the setting of recent cocaine use that was complicated by an apical thrombus which resulted in distal emboli to his superior mesenteric artery and left renal artery. It highlights the fact that in a young patient with no other risk factors how complications may arise, even weeks after cocaine use.
