Trends and Day-of-the-Week Effects Decomposition in the Mean and Dispersion in the Number of Subjects Testing Positive for COVID-19 in the UK in 2020
COVID-19 pandemic is a global threat, where the rate of infection with Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome
Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) increases exponentially, and the spread of the virus from person to person is very fast.
Fitting models for COVID-19 counts receive a great attention, and modelling the dispersion of COVID-19 counts
helps measuring the spread of the disease in a population and evaluating the intervention
Ultrastructure of the Frontal Cortex Neurons of 5-Day-Day Rats after Antenatal Alcoholization
Antenatal alcoholization leads to a number of specific disorders in the offspring organism, grouped into the concept of fetal alcohol
syndrome, which is included in the fetal alcohol spectrum disorders. The negative effects of alcohol on the developing fetal brain
include structural abnormalities of the brain, neurological, behavioral and cognitive defects.
Effect of Body Mass Index on 30-day and 1-year Mortality after Endovascular Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair
Obesity contributes to chronic diseases including diabetes, hypertension, and heart failure, disease states that negatively affect life expectancy.
A Look at Day Fines: What has happened over the Years?
This paper seeks to explore the development of day fines or fines as a single penalty for major offenses in the United States and

Spatial and Temporal Distribution of Rainfall and Rainy Days over the Goa State
Planning for water resources development in a basin or over a region requires careful assessment of the available water resources and reasonable needs of the basin/region in foreseeable future for various purposes such as drinking water, irrigation, hydro-power, navigation, etc. There are several ongoing river water disputes between different states of India, especially in the peninsular region due to decrease in rainfall during the past 15 years or so. The sharing of water of the Mondovi River is a cause of dispute between the Governments of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Goa states. An attempt has therefore, been made to study the characteristics of rainfall distribution over the Goa state using daily and monthly rainfall data. The study mostly comprises of spatial distribution of rainfall, seasonal and annual rainfall trend, relationship between rainfall and rainy days, mean daily rainfall intensity (MDI) and yearly variation of rainfall as well. The results of this study would form basis for various studies in administrating fresh water sources, projecting the investments to prevent the urban areas from the flood and proper planning of the agricultural activities in the State.
Effects of Long-Acting Injectable Progesterone Given Two Days after Luteolysis on Estrus Suppression in Mares
Administration of exogenous progesterone or progestin can suppress estrous behavior in mares. Compounded long-acting formulations of progesterone are widely available. The objective of this study was to determine if a long-acting injectable progesterone formulation would suppress behavioral estrus in mares. Five mares were monitored daily by rectal palpation and transrectal ultrasonography to insure that all mares were cycling normally. Endogenous progesterone was removed through lysis of the corpus luteum seven days post-ovulation with prostaglandin F2 alpha (PGF2α). Two days following PGF2α administration, mares received 2 g of long-acting progesterone intramuscularly. Estrous behavior was determined daily by individually exposing mares to a stallion beginning two days before injection of long-acting progesterone until ovulation occurred. Serum progesterone concentrations were significantly elevated (>2 ng/mL) for 10 days following treatment with a long-acting injectable progesterone. Behavioral estrus suppression during this period was minimal and not significant. All mares developed local injection site reactions and half the mares developed febrile responses following treatment. In conclusion, the long-acting compounded formulation of progesterone elevates progesterone concentrations for 10 days but does not suppress estrous behavior to a stallion. Due to the side effects associated with this treatment, long-acting formulations of injectable progesterone are not appropriate for use in performance horses.
Analysis of Start, End and Length of the Growing Season and the Number of Rainy Days in Semi-Arid Central Rift Valley of Ethiopia
Ethiopian agriculture is dominated by smallholder farmers with an average per capita land holding of less than a hectare in which the
production system mainly depends on rain fed. In order to characterize the climate of Mieso, Melkassa, and Adami Tulu located in
Central rift valley (CRV) of Ethiopia.
Quality of Life after Accidental Major Vascular Injury and Prolonged ICU Stay - A Case Report
Survival or mortality rate is a reasonable choice of an outcome measure for critically ill patients in intensive care unit (ICU). But it is also important to assess the impact of critical illness and peri-operative complications on health status and quality of life (QoL) after hospital discharge. The QLQ-C30 is a 30-item cancer-specific questionnaire that incorporates five functioning scales (physical, role, cognitive, emotional, and social), eight symptoms scales, perceived financial impact of the disease and a global scale [1-5].
Fuel Metabolism Following 3 Days on a Carbohydrate-Free Diet vs. 3 Days of Fasting in Men with Type 2 Diabetes: A Randomized Controlled Crossover Trial
A 72-h fast results in a rapid decrease in circulating glucose to a lower level without a change in non-water body mass. Several metabolic adjustments are necessary. A nutrient-sufficient, carbohydrate (CHO)-free diet also has been reported to result in a decrease in glucose, and similar metabolic perturbations. However, direct comparisons are not available in subjects without, or with, type 2 diabetes (T2DM).
Treatment of Cerebral Mucormycosis with Prolonged Liposomal Amphotericin B (>1000 days)
Mucormycosis is a rare but invasive and potentially lethal infection caused by ubiquitous fungi of the order Mucorales. The primary mode of infection is inhalation of fungal spores. Rhinocerebral and pulmonary infections are most common, however, other organ systems including the central nervous system can be affected, presumably by occult fungemia. We describe the prolonged treatment course (>1000 days) of a patient with cerebral mucormycosis using liposomal amphotericin B (LAMB). Two different attempts were made to replace LAMB with posaconazole, but each occasion resulted in therapeutic failure. This case represents the longest course of LAMB reported in the literature.
Sero-Prevalence of Small Ruminant Brucellosis in Three Selected Districts of Somali Region, Eastern Ethiopia
A cross-sectional study was conducted from November, 2011 to March, 2012 in three selected districts of Jijiga zone, Somali region, Ethiopia, aimed at determining the sero-prevalence and to identify potential risk factors of small ruminant Brucellosis. A total of 291 serum samples (100 from sheep and 191 from goats) were collected from extensive management system with no history of vaccination. All serum samples were initially screened by RBPT and positive reactors to RBPT were further tested by CFT for confirmation. Accordingly, the overall prevalence of Brucellosis in small ruminants was 1.37% (4/291).
Milk Production, Somatic Cell Count, Percentages Milk Fat and Milk Protein Measured in Lactating Dairy Goats Fed a Nutritional Supplement
Two replicate studies were conducted on a commercial goat dairy. The objective was to determine the effects of dietary supplementation with OmniGen-AF, a nutritional supplement that supports immune function in ruminants, on milk production, somatic cell count (SCC), percentages milk fat (%MF) and milk protein (%MP) in lactating dairy goats.
