Improving Existing Waste Management Practices: Comparing the Effectiveness of Recycling Systems Between a Private International School and a Public School

Despite Taiwan’s title as one of the most efficient recycling systems, individual recycling habits contribute to these efficient recycling systems. Despite Taiwan’s successful strategy of demolishing waste through incineration, improper recycling at a grassroots level, such as students’ municipal solid waste recycling habits, result in recycling contamination, and improper waste recycling could lead to the release of toxic fumes into the atmosphere. This study compares the recycling practices and recycle bin setups of a public school and a private international school to determine important factors that could contribute to decreasing waste recycled improperly. The results show that immediate feedback if a student recycled improperly as well as clear recycling signs were essential factors to decrease recycling mistakes.

Arduino Use in Education Systems to Monitor the Noise in Schools Classrooms in Qatar

Many students suffer from the sound of air conditioners and others suffer from light intensity in classroom. The air conditioners and light intensity affect the efficiency and quality of education. Urduino is used a lot in industrial areas because there is a lot of noise pollution. Additionally, it can be used in high traffic regions as well as to monitor noise in different parts of the city. It can also be used in education systems to monitor the noise in classrooms. The purpose of this study was to monitor the noise in classrooms by Arduino Nano that interfaced with a Sound Sensor. A study was conducted to determine the ambient sound and light intensity of a convenience sample at school during September, October and November 2021. Six classrooms’ samples corresponding to hourly fractions of the average sample broken down into the following periods: from 10:00 am to 2:50 pm. Sound levels were measured to assess acoustic conditions. Light levels were measured to assess light conditions. Each classroom from 1 to 6 was tested the ambient sound intensity and light using an Arduino. Noise varies with time and place. The sound level varies between 27.5 dB and 65 dB with the average sound level in the classrooms was 43.53 dB greater than recommended sound level limit of 35 dB. The light intensity varies between 62.50 lux and 208.5 lux. The average light levels around the recommended 300 lux. Everyone emphasized the quality of using the device to measure the noise level in the classroom. The use of the device leads to monitor the noise of the air conditioner or replacing it. The device has the potential to significantly change the noise pollution monitoring system at school. Researchers recommend all students and authorities the importance of the Arduino.

Problems of Agriculture in Azerbaijan and the Prospects of its Development

This article examines the current state of soil and water resources, farmland in Azerbaijan Republic, the problem of progressive water and wind soil degradation, the need for the organization of agriculture, taking into account the introduction of automated control systems for irrigation using water saving technology and hardware equipment in it, the study of the characteristics and analysis of experience implementing measures to stabilize ecological and drainage system of agriculture in conditions of insufficient moisture areas in the country, as well as basic aspects of development of environmental reclamation approach balanced, rational use of a particular system of crop rotation and crop taking into account the requirements of economic development and environmental management.

Picture Fuzzy Grey Approach for Decision Problems with unknown Weight Information

Cuong’s picture fuzzy set (PFS) has more capability to grip the uncertainties in real-life decision-making problems as compare to intuitionistic fuzzy set. The purpose of this paper is to introduce a new Grey approach in which the attribute values takes from the picture fuzzy numbers, attribute weights information is unknown and develop a multi criteria decision making approach to study the interaction between the input argument under the picture fuzzy environment. The main advantage of the proposed technique is that, it can deal with the situations of the positive interaction, negative interaction or non-interaction among the criteria, during decision-making process. Finally, a numerical approach is demonstrated for implementation of proposed technique and show that how proposed technique is reliable and effective is illustrated.

Comparative Simulation Study of Direct and Indirect Target Production of 99Mo with Linear Accelerator at SAMEER

When high energy electron beam falls on a high Z target it generates bremsstrahlung photons which can be used to produce 99Mo from 100Mo using photo-neutron (γ, n) reaction. Two different approaches are studied to carry out photo-neutron reaction. First, a converter target approach in which photons are generated in a high Z target of tungsten using (e,γ) reaction and then (γ, n) reaction in 100Mo for 99Mo production. Second, a direct target approach wherein 30 MeV electrons hit directly onto 100Mo target to carry out both (e, γ) and (γ, n) reactions in the 100Mo target itself. GEANT4 simulation gives photons and neutrons fluxes and their angular distributions from both the approaches, which are then used to calculate activity of 99Mo. The study shows that for very thin 100Mo target of about 0.1 radiation length converter target shows better activity whereas, for any thickness beyond it the direct target approach is found to be more efficient. For 30 MeV and 10 kW beam falling on 100Mo target with 1.4 radiation length, direct target approach is found to be more efficient. Therefore, after improvising the geometry of 100Mo target in the case of direct target method an increased specific activity is obtained through GEANT4 simulation.

Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis Secondary to Dermatopathic Lymphadenitis

Dermatopathic lymphadenitis (DL) is considered a benign disease, the symptoms of which can be relieved with only anti–histamine. It can be confused with lymphoma. Here, we report a case of DL, which resulted in hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH). After adequate treatment, remission was obtained at first; however, recurrence with liver failure occurred six months later, which quickly resulted in death. This particular case has not been reported elsewhere. It reminds us that even benign dermatological problems can cause life–threatening syndromes, such as, in this case, HLH. The risk needs to be taken seriously in patients presenting with fever, skin problems, and lymphadenopathy.

Hirsutism will be not Considered as Sign of Progressive Disease after Autologous Transplant in POEMS Syndrome

POEMS (polyneuropathy, organomegaly, endocrinopathy, M-protein and skin changes) syndrome is a rare multisystem disease characterized by plasma cell dyscrasia and overproduction of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). Skin changes are usually multiple cutaneous angiomas, leukonychia, necrotizing vasculitis, cutaneous thickening of sclerodermiform type and hypertrichosis. VEGF is assumed to be useful in monitoring disease activity, because VEGF levels usually decrease after treatment. We described the case of a young woman with POEMS syndrome characterized by hirsutism and hypertrichosis who underwent autologous bone marrow transplantation . Evolutionwas hallmarked by an improvment of radiological signs and biological markers specially VEGF, while hirsutism didn’t regress.

Giemsa Staining and Antibody Characterization of Colpodella sp. (Apicomplexa)

Colpodella species are free-living alveolates that possess an apical complex used for attaching to eukaryotic prey protists for ingestion of the cytoplasmic contents of the prey. Colpodella sp. are the closest relatives of the Apicomplexa, a phylum that includes the important human pathogens Plasmodium falciparum, Toxoplasma gondii and Cryptosporidium parvum. In this study, we investigated morphological characteristics of Colpodella (ATCC 50594) in a diprotist culture containing Bodo caudatus as prey in order to identify features differentiating both protists. The level of apical complex protein conservation among free living alveolate relatives of apicomplexans and intracellular apicomplexan pathogens is unknown. Antibodies against proteins of the apical complex in Colpodella sp. are currently unavailable. We performed staining and immunological characterization of Colpodella in a diprotist culture containing B. caudatus to aid routine differentiation of predator and prey in culture. Staining revealed distinguishing morphological features of both protists. The kinetoplast in B.caudatus was identified using Giemsa staining and was used to differentiate B. caudatus from Colpodella sp. trophozoites.
