An Observational Study on the Clinical Efficacy of Neramexane in Subjective Tinnitus in a Phase 2 Clinical Trial in a Hispanic Cohort in Laredo, Texas
An observational study was conducted on the efficacy of Neramexane in a small cohort of Hispanic subjects who were diagnosed with moderate to severe subjective tinnitus. Patients were screened using the inclusion and exclusion criteria as outlined by the study sponsor. The study protocol involved daily intake of Neramexane 50 mg/day (for weigh<90 kg) or 75 mg/day (weight>90 kg) for 29 weeks with primary efficacy assessed through audiogram study and 3 electronic self-reporting questionnaires: Tinnitus Handicap Inventory-12 (TBF/THI-12) Scale, Tinnitus Rating Scale (TRS) and Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS).
Clinical Utility of Triglyceride: HDL-Cholesterol Ratio as a Surrogate Marker of Inflammation in Pediatric Obesity
The prognostic utility of the triglyceride: HDL-cholesterol (TG:HDL-C) ratio, a marker for insulin resistance, is unknown among high-risk children and adolescents. We examined the clinical utility of TG:HDL-C ratio as a marker of insulin resistance and chronic inflammation in obese youth.

To determine how plate waste varies among African American, Jewish, and Hispanic congregate meal participants, the visual plate waste method was applied to a convenience sample of 343 trays among seven South Florida congregate meal sites.
Bioequivalence Study of Two Oral-Capsule Formulations of Pregabalin 300 mg in Healthy Mexican Adult Volunteers
Pregabalin is a ligand for the alpha-2-delta subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels in the central nervous system. It has anticonvulsant, analgesic, and anxiolytic activity. The bioequivalence of a test formulation was evaluated with respect to its corresponding reference drug formulation of oral pregabalin 300 mg, administered as a capsule. This randomized-sequence, single-dose, single-blind, two-period crossover design under fasting conditions was done on 25 healthy Mexican adult subjects including both genders. There was a seven-day washout period.
Isolated Laryngeal Coccidioidomycosis - A Case Report and Review of the Literature
Coccidioidomycosis involving the larynx is a rare occurrence which seems to present with non-specific upper airway symptoms. The diagnosis is made by tissue biopsy and the treatment is usually fluconazole for 6-12 months depending on the clinical presentation. In unusual presentations of laryngeal problems clinicians should consider Coccidioidomycosis, especially in endemic regions.

Three hundred and two children were observed in 14 schools during a 4-week period in June, 2011; 50% were male; 75% were in elementary school.
Drug Tolerability and Outcomes in Kidney Transplant Recipients Treated with Two Formulations of Mycophenolic Acid
Mycophenolic Acid (MPA) is one of the most widely used immunosuppressive agents in kidney transplantation. This study was designed to compare the safety, tolerability and efficacy of two formulations of mycophenolic acid, Mycophenolate Mofetil (MMF) and Enteric-Coated Mycophenolate Sodium (EC-MPS), in renal transplant recipients.
