This case report presents an unusual variant of generalized aggressive periodontitis that was managed by nonsurgical therapy which included the use of a novel tooth gel. Also, a brief review of the literature is offered as context for this unusual clinical case. The patient, a 40-year old Caucasian female, presented with advanced bone loss involving all teeth, intense inflammation of the attached gingiva and little obvious supra- or subgingival biofilm and dental calculus. Presence of systemic disease, high levels of periodontal microbial pathogens and IL-1α and IL-1β polymorphisms were evaluated and all determined to be negative. Gingival biopsy resulted in a diagnosis of nonspecific inflammation. Treatment consisted of 2- and 3-month intervals for periodontal maintenance appointments and eventually the introduction of an activated edathamil-based tooth gel. Over the subsequent 4-years the patient’s periodontal status stabilized as manifested by no further loss of tooth supporting bone, a reduction in the percentage of periodontal pockets of 4-6 mm depth and a reduction in the percentage of sites exhibiting bleeding upon periodontal probing. The significance of this case report is to emphasize that, even in cases of severe generalized aggressive periodontitis, nonsurgical periodontal therapy can be effective. In addition, it appears that a novel tooth gel containing activated edathamil is effective at reducing gingival inflammation with a concomitant reduction in percent of sites that bleed on periodontal probing.

France, Greece, Italy, and Spain the major sheep and goat milk producers in Europe, got the initiative through an interim of 30 years (1985 – 2015), to organize - through IDF - 7 symposiums aiming at the upgrade of the Dairy Sector. One major interest was the milk quality. Stepwise, the efforts followed cow milk structural development in organizing the testing laboratory, the definition of quality in composition (fat, protein, lactose, total solids), in Hygienic (Total Bacteria Count, Somatic Cell Count, antibiotics residues and Aflatoxin M1 contamination), adulteration with water and detection of milk species. EU, by Decision 2002/657/EC, defined the rules for the Directive 96/23/EC, enumerated the testing methods, the demands in sampling procedures, the minimum limits of performance, the quality control (ISO 17025) and the interpretation of results. The equivalency of results from different laboratories, through ISO 17025, demanded the application of ISO analytical standards.

Horses have their own unique status as therapy animals due to their function in both physical and psychotherapies. Current models of Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies (EAAT) utilize horses for a range of physical, psychological and learning therapies to benefit humans, often referring to horses as therapeutic “partners”. To fulfill certification requirements for existing models of EAAT, practitioners are required to study equine behavior through the belief systems currently modeled in the natural horsemanship community. Despite requiring knowledge in horse behavior, studies and anecdotal evidence suggests that horses used in EAAT commonly display confusion or escape behaviors, “burn out” and/or display signs of depression. These behaviors could be a result of contradictions in the interpretation of equine behavior within the natural horsemanship practices or a lack of understanding and utilization of equine learning theory within the context of EAAT.

Gastric type adenocarcinoma with fundic gland differentiation (GA-FG) has been reported as a new, rare, chief cell differentiation composed carcinoma. Clinicopathologically, it exists on the gastric cardia/fundus, with low proliferative activity and low-grade malignancy. Until now, there has been no report of this GA-FG type cancer in the duodenum.
