Suicidal Trends in Different Indian States: A Retrospective Study
Suicide is an act to intentionally end one’s life. District level suicide data were obtained from respective police stations
for the year 2019-2020. Hanging is reported to be the most common strategy primarily on the grounds that materials for
the hanging are easily available, followed by consumption of poison (primarily pesticide), drowning, burning, cut injury
to wrist, drug overdose, alcohol overdose and fall from building. Present research showed that as indicated by sex, males
are at high risk of committing suicide than that of females. The greatest number of suicide cases are reported for the age
group of 31-40 years and the least can be seen in the age group below 10 years.
Oral Carcinoma in Young-Clinico-Pathological Profile and Survival Outcomes in a North Indian Population

In vitro Digestibility of Indian Bamboo (Bambusa vulgaris) Leaves Associated with Stylosanthes guianensisin Ruminants
The study of the in vitrodigestibility of Indian bamboo (Bambusa vulgaris) leaves associated with Stylosanthes guianensisin ruminants
was conducted in April 2019 in the Animal Production and Nutrition Research Unit of the University of Dschang. A bovine ruminal
fluid, a source of energy (B. vulgaris) and a nitrogen source (S.guianensis) with or without polyethylene glycol (PEG) were used. A
sample of rations based on B. vulgarisassociated with 0; 20 and 30% of S.guianensis, with or without PEG was removed, dried and
milled to determine the chemical composition and evaluation of in vitrodigestibility. Results of this study showed that the addition
of legume increased the total nitrogen content (MAT) (12.87, 13.03 and 13.56% DM) when the B. vulgariswas associated with 0; 20
and 30% S.guianensis.

Metabolic Syndrome in Indigenous Amerindian Women in Suriname; Less on Waist and More on Weight?
The indigenous Amerindian populations living in the southern interior part of Suriname have to date largely maintained their traditional hunter-gatherer life-style. In this study we compared the prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MeTS) and its component risk factors between indigenous Amerindian women of the interior of Suriname, with indigenous Amerindian women living in the coastal-rural areas who have a more urbanized lifestyle. We focused on women since the Suriname Health study showed that Indigenous women had the second highest MeTS prevalence nationwide.
Historical Perspective of Dharwad Forensic Mental Health Services during Pre-Independence Era: A Retrospective Study
Background: History of forensic mental health services provide knowledge regarding its evolution that has undergone tremendous
changes over the past two centuries. Aim: To study the forensic mental health services and management of psychiatric patients during pre-independence era. Settings and Design: Retrospective, hospital based chart-review and descriptive study. Methods and Materials: Medical records of 85 cases preserved with the 170-year old psychiatric institute were retrieved to study the
variables related to socio-demographic characteristics, family background, clinical profile, treatment methods, admission-discharge
procedures, and mortality by retrospective chart-review method. Data was analysed using descriptive statistical measures with significance
of P<0.05.
Evaluation of Golden Proportion in North Indian Individuals with an Aesthetic Smile
This study aimed to investigate the existence of the golden proportion between the widths of the maxillary anterior teeth in
individuals with an aesthetic smile. This study was conducted on 120 subjects (60 women and 60 men), with ages ranging from 18 to 25 years.
Those subjects whose natural smile did not show any visual tension with regards to the study and their own criteria were selected
as having aesthetic smile. An image measurement program was used to measure the apparent mesio-distal widths of six maxillary
anterior teeth on the scanned photographs of these subjects. Individual measurements of each maxillary anterior tooth were taken and
the golden proportion was compared. The existence of the golden proportion was investigated in the width ratios of maxillary anterior
teeth.
Genetic Characterization and Sequence Variations in 12S rRNA of Mitochondrial Gene in Three Indian Civets (Viverridae) Species: Implication in Wildlife Forensics
Comparative genomics of 12S and 16S rRNAs, cytochrome b (Cyt b) and the control region (CR) of mtDNA genome are commonly used in phylogenetics and wildlife forensics. We document the genetic characteristics and sequence variations of 12S rRNA (384 bp) in Indian civets, viz., the common palm civet (Paradoxurus hermaphroditus) (n=9), small Indian civet (Viverricula indica) (n=7) and Himalayan palm civet (Paguma larvata) (n=5). The nucleotide compositions vary from 17.6% to 36.3%, and found one to two haplotypes in all three civet species. Observed sequence divergence was 0.001 to 0.002 and 0.057 to 0.110 within and between species respectively. The nucleotide diversity was 0.00102 to 0.00184. Tajima’s D value was negative (-0.097256 to -1.36240) but statistically non-significant in all three species. Based on genetic characteristics, we discuss the use of observed forensically informative nucleotide sequencing (FINS) and topology in species identification for forensic purposes among these three civet species.

Development and Validation of a Skin Fold Thickness Prediction Equation for Asian Indians Using Hydrodensitometry
Skin fold thickness prediction equations are widely used for estimating body fat percentage and thereby obesity. Equations to estimate body fat percentage for the Asian Indian population do not yet exist. The main purpose of this study was to develop and validate a new prediction equation for the estimation of body fat percentage in Asian Indian adults using anthropometric measurements (skin folds, circumference, bone breadth) and DEXA.
Study on Hair Morphology to Distinguish the Dominant Races in Malaysia for Forensic Investigation
