Paget’s bone disease (PBD) is a benign tumor of osteoclasts. We report a case of an isolated temporal bone’s Paget disease with unusual evolution to a rapidly functional degradation of vestibulocochlear system. A 60 years old female was admitted for an isolated, left sided mastoid tumefaction without any inflammatory signs. Initial temporal bone computed tomography (CT) showed a left cotton wool appearance without any ossicles lesion or vestibulocochlear extension. Anatomo pathological tests confirmed the diagnosis. The outcome was marked by the occurrence of vestibulocochlear symptoms. Treatment had consisted on subtotal surgery in combination with oral bisphosphonate with improvement of her clinical conditions. The post operative’s follow-up was simple without any abnormalities. PBD of temporal bone is a benign disorder. Imaging is considered the most useful diagnosis modality for revealing the disorder that will be confirmed by histological tests. The treatment is based on medical approaches and surgery has few indications.

Introduction: Mechanical disorganization of the bacterial biofilm is the cornerstone of the prevention of gingivitis and periodontitis periodontal diseases. The objective of this study was to evaluate the periodontal health of schoolchildren in Widou, Ferlo. Methodology: This was a descriptive, cross-sectional study of schoolchildren living in Widou in the centre of Ferlo. The survey was exhaustive and concerned the only school in the locality. The epidemiological data collected concerned oral hygiene practice, periodontal health and socio-demographic characteristics such as sex, age and educational level. The degree of hygiene was assessed by the Silness and Loe plaque index (Plaque Index); inflammation and bleeding on probing were assessed by the Loe and Silness gingival index (Gingival Index). Results: In a total of 126 schoolchildren, boys and girls were equally represented and the average age was 10 years +/- 2.16.Sixty-nine percent (69%) of the children examined did not use a toothbrush. Of these, more than 47% reported brushing 3 times a day. The plaque index mean value was 1.23 and 99.2% of the population had a moderate plaque control. The average gingival index was 0.96 and 80.2% of the sample had moderate gingival inflammation. Conclusion: The study showed a relatively low rate of toothbrush use in contrast to the tooth stick and a relatively high rate of periodontal index. Communication-based approaches to behaviour change in children are needed to improve periodontal health.

The World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a pandemic in March 2020 and since then COVID-19 infection has been reported in all parts of the world. Several Healthcare systems reduced or canceled none emergency or urgent surgeries to effectively manage the pandemic. Recently, the reported incidence of new cases of COVID-19 has reduced in some regions and some Healthcare systems are resuming elective gynecologic surgery. This narrative review explores the challenges of planning and resuming elective gynecologic surgery in a climate of continuing community transmission.

Obesity increases of prevalence of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) in young active populations worldwide. We sought to investigate the status of young men (n=200) and women (n=200) aged from 18 to 39 years old, living at Libreville, by examining their lifestyles and eating habits, and measuring their anthropometric parameters, including, height, weight, body mass index (BMI), percentages of total muscles, lean mass, body and visceral fats, as well as metabolic age and metabolism at rest.

The wind instruments are the musical instruments most likely to cause oral lesions, because their use involves the involvement of anatomical structures of the oral and perioral cavity. The purpose of this literature review was to assess the impact of wind instruments on the oral condition of musicians. Scientific articles indexed in the databases Pubmed, Lilacs, Scielo, Cochrane and also in Google Scholar were evaluated. Publications from 1935 to 2020 were included and the following descriptors were applied: wind musicians and oral conditions, wind musicians and periodontal conditions, wind musicians and occlusal disorders.
