especially important in disease outbreaks when information is quickly required on local needs that is essential for success.
Quantitative data alone are not sufficient to provide an in-depth understanding. The challenge is to use a rapid data collection
approach that can provide practical solutions by integrating the available evidence, professional expertise, and stakeholder
experiences. This viewpoint reflects the opinions of the author that highlight the strengths and weaknesses of rapid
data collection and the presentation of an approach that can be implemented with minimal interference in a health promotion
and healthcare program context
Non-Polio Enterovirus Meningitis in Children-Clinical Spectrum, Viral Serotypes and Outcome: Unusual Community Outbreak Experience at a Tertiary Care Centre from Oman
Enterovirus meningitis is one of the commonest viruses causing meningitis in children which is underdiagnosed. The
epidemiology of EV infections is not well studied in the Middle East and Arab Gulf Region. No Study was conducted in Oman to explore
more about viral meningitis. This study will help to review enterovirus meningitis in order to guide management and patient care in
Oman and will help to decrease the cost of treatment by avoiding unnecessary investigations.

Bubonic Plague Outbreak Investigation in the Endemic District of Tsiroanomandidy - Madagascar, October 2014
Plague remains a major public health problem in Madagascar. Faced with reports of plague cases and deaths in Tsiroanomandidy district, we performed an investigation in October 2014.Our aim was to describe the plague outbreak and to improve the national plague control strategies. We used the National plague control program case definition. We identified cases from outpatient registers and collected socio-demographic and clinical information. Plague circulation was determined through a retrospective environmental survey of rodents and vectors.
