Screening of Carica Papaya x Vasconcellea Cauliflora Hybrids for Resistance to Papaya Ring Spot Virus (PRSV)
Carica papaya x vasconcelleacauliflora and intergeneric F1 hybrids of these species were screened for resistance to severely infected papaya ringspot virus isolates of papaya ringspot virus. Artificial screening for papaya ringspot virus was carried out 27 days after sap inoculation. Out of twenty-nine F1 hybrid plants of CO 7 x Vasconcelleacauliflora, only six plants were found free from PRSV symptoms. Similarly, out of fifty-five F1 hybrid plants of PusaNanha x Vasconcelleacaulifloraonly twenty-three were found free from the symptoms and seventy plants out of 335 plants of CP50 x Vasconcelleacauliflora were found free from PRSV symptoms. The resistance of the hybrids and parents and their hybrids viz, CO 7 x Vasconcelleacauliflora, PusaNanha x Vasconcelleacauliflora and CP50 x Vasconcelleacauliflora were subjected to DAS ELISA test. Molecular marker viz, ISSR markers were used to check and verify the hybridity. ISSR markers showed confirmity on three hybrid progenies viz, CO7V3, CO7V5 and CO7V6 from CO 7 xVasconcelleacauliflora.
HIV Screening Scenarios and Targets to Achieve 90% Sero-Status Knowledge Over 2021-2025 in Morocco – Pioneer Use Case of the Goals HIV Testing Strategies Model in a Concentrated Epidemic
Morocco applied the Goals testing model, projecting alternative testing scale-up scenarios, varying coverage targets for 13 adult populations. The model was calibrated using program service delivery, spending and surveillance data (2015-2019), integrated bio-behavioural surveys, and national HIV estimates. It projects annual diagnoses by target group from undiagnosed prevalence and testing coverage, allowing for HIV-infected people self-selecting for testing, retesting and transitions between groups. Scenarios were
evaluated for knowledge status improvement and cost, focusing on 2023-2025.
Statistics of DNA Profiling and Activities of Divisional Forensic DNA Screening Laboratory, Faridpur in Bangladesh
DNA is the basic building block for an individual’s whole genetic makeup. DNA is a tiny thread-like molecule which is existent in all forms of life, inception from humans to microscopic organism bacteria or virus. DNA fingerprinting which is currently most popularly known as DNA profiling, is a process of isolating and making images of DNA sequences.
Relationship between Body Mass Index and Diagnosis of Obesity in the Military Health System Active Duty Population
The overall rate of obesity is rising in the United States; this is also reflected in the military population. It is important that
providers appropriately diagnose obesity and discuss treatment options with their patients.
A Screening Study of Cervical Cancer Using Pap Smear Test in Outpatient Clinic of Must University Hospital
Despite the well-established importance of early cervical cancer detection, there are no clear data about the prevalence of cervical intraepithelial lesions among Egyptian population due to lack of screening programs. Thus, we conducted this study in order to assess the prevalence of inflammatory, premalignant and malignant cervical lesions among Egyptian population using Pap smear test.
Screening and Identiying Farmers’ Prefered Varieties for Adaptability and Resistance to Cassava Mosaic Disease (CMD) in Sierra Leone
Cassava plays an important role as a food security crop in Sub – Saharan Africa. However, yields of cassava in Sierra Leone are
generally low. Adoption of improved varieties resistant to the Cassava Mosaic Disease (CMD) which is one of the most limiting factors
of production remains low. Therefore cultivation of local varieties infected with the cassava mosaic disease dominates the farming
system in Sierra Leone.
Screening & Awareness of Breast Cancer in an Urban Slum of Pakistan: A Pilot Study
Background: Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women across the world with low survival rates in less developed countries. Low survival rates in less developed countries can be explained mainly by the lack of early detection programs and lack of adequate diagnosis and treatment facilities.
Screening and Basic Workup of a Patient with Peripheral Vascular Disease – A Primer of Physicians
Peripheral vascular disease (PVD) is a prevalent condition associated with significant morbidity and mortality in a variety of patient populations.
Splenic Injury after Screening Colonoscopy; Could that Happen Twice? An Unusual Case Report
Iatrogenic splenic injury is a known but rare complication of colonoscopic procedures. Our department describes a very interesting case of the same complication that occurred twice on the same patient. The patient had an elective colonoscopy for microcytic anemia and shortly after the endoscopic procedure she developed excessive abdominal pain and had a syncope episode. She gradually became hemodynamically unstable and needed proper resuscitation. An abdominal tomography scan performed which surprisingly demonstrated active intra-abdominal bleeding pointing a ruptured spleen as the source of the hemorrhage. This finding surprised us given the fact that her past surgical history included a previous splenectomy for the same complication 14 years ago.
Utility of Serum Bilirubin Screening during the First 24-Hours Following Birth of Pre-Term Neonates <35 Weeks’ Gestation
Neonates with severe hyperbilirubinaemia are at increased risk for neurological morbidity. Risk factors for early onset hyperbilirubinaemia include prematurity, red cell haemolysis and birth trauma. As most neonates are asymptomatic and clinical evaluation in detecting early jaundice limited, clinical practice guidelines at the Royal Women’s Hospital recommend a serum bilirubin (SBR) level in the first 24 hours following birth for neonates <35 weeks’ gestation. Our audit aims to describe the utility of SBR screening in this population
Awareness of Cervical Cancer Risk Factors, Screening Practices and Attitudes among Nurses in a Primary Health Care Setting of Morocco: A Cross-Sectional Study
The effectiveness of the cervical cancer screening activities depends on physicians and nurses’ level of awareness and their adherence to the program.
Assessment of Dental Providers’ Knowledge, Behavior and Attitude towards Incorporating Chairside Screening for Medical Conditions: a pilot study
Emerging evidence-based information supports incorporation of point-of-care screening of individuals at-risk for undiagnosed medical conditions in dental settings.
Glucose Testing and Lifestyle Counseling of Obese and Overweight Patients: A Survey of Primary Care Physicians in the United States
In the United States (U.S.), the costs for health care and lost productivity due to diagnosed diabetes has increased from $174 billion in 2007 to $245 billion in 2012, making it one of the fastest growing public health burdens. Nearly 26 million adults have diabetes, and another 79 million have prediabetes, a condition that increases the risk for developing type 2 diabetes. Clearly to reduce the costs and improve health, preventing diabetes must be a priority.
In-Vitro Antibacterial / Antifungal Screening of 2-Chloroquinoline Scaffold Derivatives
A series of differentiated 2-chloroquinoline derivatives (3-26) having various spacer groups between 2-chloroquinoline and aryl or heteroaryl ring were synthesized by chemical reactions involving nucleophilic addition, nucleophilic substitution, esterification and cyclization.
Methadone and Torsade De Pointes in the Therapeutic Range
Methadone, a long-acting opioid agonist, binds to and occupies mu-opioid receptors, preventing withdrawal symptoms for 24 hours or longer, reduces craving for opioids, and, by maintaining high levels of opioid tolerance, reduces the euphoric effects of subsequent illicit opioid use. As a controlled substance with potential for abuse, methadone use is regulated in the US and other countries.
