Trends and Day-of-the-Week Effects Decomposition in the Mean and Dispersion in the Number of Subjects Testing Positive for COVID-19 in the UK in 2020
COVID-19 pandemic is a global threat, where the rate of infection with Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome
Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) increases exponentially, and the spread of the virus from person to person is very fast.
Fitting models for COVID-19 counts receive a great attention, and modelling the dispersion of COVID-19 counts
helps measuring the spread of the disease in a population and evaluating the intervention
Numerical Analysis on the Electromechanical Behaviors and Piezotronic Effects Controlled by the Applied of Initial Stress
Based on the linear three-dimensional elastic theory, shear horizontal (SH) wave propagation along the normal direction to the piezoelectric semiconductor plate (PSC) was obtained in the presence of initial horizontal and vertical stresses. The purpose behind obtaining the numerical solutions was to evaluate the effect of stress on dimensionless frequency and phase velocity.
Investigating the Double-Peak Phenomenon in Oral Pharmacokinetics of Eurycoma Longifolia quassinoids in Lipid-Based Solid Dispersion
13α(21)-Epoxyeurycomanone (EP) and eurycomanone (EN), the polar quassinoids of Eurycoma longifolia extract (TAF2) formulated as a lipid-based solid dispersion (TAF2-SD) to increase sperm count for oligospermic infertility, displayed improvement of oral pharmacokinetics and bioavailability in rats over the non-formulated TAF2 extract.
Negatively Charged Gold Nanoparticles “Control” Double-Stranded DNAs Spatial Packing
We report here on new optic and small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) measurements concerning the formation of the dispersions from double-stranded (ds) DNA molecules, doped with negatively charged gold nanoparticles (nano-Au). The nano-Au fixation nearby the surfaces of linear ds DNA in solution of high ionic strength (0.3 M NaCl) and subsequent phase exclusion of (ds DNA-nano-Au) complexes from solution containing poly(ethylene glycol) results in decrease in the amplitude of abnormal negative band in the circular dichroism spectra of the formed cholesteric liquid-crystalline dispersions (CLCD).
Liposphere: A Versatile Controlled Release Carrier for Hydrophobic Drugs
Researchers have been inventing new drugs since time immemorial. Of late it is established that the development of new drugs alone is not sufficient to ensure progress in drug therapy. The missing link is a potential strategy. It involves the apt selection of drug carrier systems.
Topical Delivery System for Phytochemicals: Capsaicin and Capsicum Tincture
Capsaicin, an active ingredient of Capsicum fruit, is currently undergoing “revival” in the clinical management of pain. However, the choice of its formulation is rather limited to the use of “old-fashioned” tinctures and recently the patches. In an attempt to improve the therapeutic outcome and develop its skin-friendly formulation, we prepared the vesicle-based drug delivery system with capsaicin.
