Sickle cell disease (SCD) is estimated to affect approximately 100,000 Americans. Children and adolescents with chronic medical conditions like SCD require comprehensive care that addresses both medical and psychosocial needs to better control their disease and ultimately maximize function at home, school and the community. The purpose of this quality improvement project was to host a symposium to provide sickle cell disease education and increase awareness of sickle cell disease to patients, families, and the surrounding community.
Obesity and the side effects of weight gain among Iranian females are significantly higher compared to males. In addition, the trend of overweight and obesity among Iranian adolescents in particular is increasing.
