Effects of Different Concentratıons of Proline, Cysteine and Glutamine on Some Sperm Quality Characterıstıcs and Fertility of Cryopreserved Bee Spermatozoa (Apis Mellifera)

Development of novel cryopreservation protocols is required to test novel chemical and non-chemical supplements in freezing extender for bee semen. Antioxidants demonstrate critical effects on post-thawed sperm quality, fertility, and subsequent embryo development. The purpose of the study was to determine of the effects of different concentrations of proline, cysteine and glutamine on some sperm quality and fertility of cryopreserved bee spermatozoa.

Case Study: SAT, A New Treatment for Clinical Goat Endometritis

Endometritis is a common disease in peripartum livestock leading to economic losses. A two-year-old, primiparous Egyptian Baladi doe suffered from mucopurulent endometritis. In a standing position using a new treatment called SAT, 10 ml of boiling water (≈100 oC) was slowly injected within the uterine lumen. Peripheral blood and cervical discharge samples were collected before injection (bi) and at 8, 24, 48, 96, 144 and 216 hrs. post injection (pi) and were sent to the lab.

Does the Level of Chlamydia Serology Titre Correlate to the Degree of Tubal Disease at Laparoscopy? A Retrospective Controlled Study

In order to detect if there is any correlation between the level of total and specific Chlamydia serology titre and the degree of tubal disease at laparoscopy in sub fertile women and to compare the results with a control group. A retrospective controlled clinical study was conducted in a hospital setting (both inpatient and outpatient clinic). A total of hundred and twenty two sub fertile women who underwent laparoscopy/tubal surgery in the period between January 2011-January 2014 were included. This included 40 women with positive Chlamydia Trachomatis specific titre (group 1), 40 with positive Chlamydia serology total titre only (group 2) and 42 women with negative Chlamydia serology titre (control group). Chlamydia serology titre was measured by ELISA. The differentiated Chlamydia specific titres were measured using Microscopic Immunofluorescence Assay (MIF) to determine the immunity status. The Chlamydia Trachomatis IgG titres were classified for the purpose of the study into normal (<1/16), Mild (1/16), Moderate (1/32), and severe (>=1/64). Laparoscopic grading of tubal disease was performed into grades 1-3 according to the severity of the tubal damage which was compared to the Chlamydia titre. Pearson`s correlation test was used as a descriptive measure.

Advances in the Treatment of Breast Cancer-Emphasis on fertility preservationA Case Report

With the recent advances in breast cancer treatment the 5 year survival rates have increased significantly with overall 20yrs survival in developed countries like USA. With further improvement being designed in the treatment of breast cancers with more and more sophisticated models to study breast cancer in human beings using the modern microfluidic models one expects more and younger breast cancer survivors to be needing fertility treatments. Here we review the modern advances in breast cancer treatments and the need for emphasizing on fertility preservation before starting any chemotherapeutic or other management as recommended by both ASO and ASRM.

Improvements to In Vitro Culture Media for Use in Bovine IVF

In assisted reproduction of cattle the design and preparation of in vitro culture media has been instrumental in supporting the development of bovine oocytes and embryos. In vitro production (IVP) involves three main sequential steps: oocyte aspiration and in vitro maturation (IVM); in vitro fertilization (IVF); and in vitro culture (IVC) of early pre-implantation embryos.

Influence of Maternal Nutritional Factors on Ovarian Folliculogenesis in Cattle

Assisted reproductive technologies, such as artificial insemination and embryo transfer, have produced significant outcomes in cattle. These technologies are useful not only for improving fertility but also for increasing the rate of genetic change in beef and dairy livestock. Today, embryo transfer in cattle is both practical and commercially viable. However, bovine embryo transplantation still remains suboptimal under on-farm conditions, one of the main reasons for which may be inefficient nutritional management.

Clinical and Molecular Evaluation of a Case of Male Infertility and Azoospermia

Here we describe the case of a 35 year old male, with a harmonic phenotype, who sought medical assistance to assess the etiology of his infertility. As a result of clinical examination, karyotyping, FISH and molecular studies, we obtained the following karyotype: mos 45,X[18]/46,XY,idic(Y)q(11.2)[82]. Furthermore, the Y chromosome was characterized by the absence of the regions AZF2 (former AZFb, within the 11.22 band, and AZFc, within the 11.23 band), whereas the region AZF1 was conserved. Male infertility can be caused by several genetic alterations.
