Factors Influences Selection and Adaptation of Aphid to their Host Plant

Phytophagous insects are dependent on their host plants entirely or part of their life cycle. Host plant supplies food and shelter for their survival. Among the phytophagous insects, aphid is familiar as phloem feeders and act as a career of plant viruses to different agricultural crops. These cause huge economic losses every year in terms of both crop damage and their control measures. Instead of chemical control, it is better to inspect the relationship of aphid with their host plant like selection and adaptation pattern to develop an eco-friendly strategy to manage them.

Defeating Surgical Anguish: A Worldwide Tale of Creativity, Hostility, and Discovery

In the pre-anesthesia era, the anguish of planned surgical maneuver was dreadful and the experience of actual procedure “utterly speechless torture”. Although, the concept of pain relief and even total insensibility was not unfamiliar to medical profession, some of the “Big Giants in Medicine” believed “knife and pain as inseparable” and the efforts to relieve or prevent pain “in vain”. In such a situation the anesthesia,one of the greatest boons of science for mankind, “burst like a revolution on medical profession”. Despite hostility from religious sect, professional colleagues and civil societies the pioneers in discovery of anesthesia stood firm, unshaken by the negative criticism. Although the fate of the active contestant of “Ether Controversy” was mournful,their untiring and dedicated struggle to relieve the sufferings of mankind can never be underscored. Renowned Arab surgeon Ibn al Quff (1232-1286 AD) was the first to suggest anesthesia as independent speciality. However, it took almost 700 years for his dream to come true.

A Systematic Review Caenorhabditis Elegans (C. Elegans) - A Host Model Organism to Study Drug-Induced Responses to the Effects of Stimulant and Depressant Drugs

Although there are many researches on drug of abuse behavior using C. elegans as model organism, the precise targets and mechanism shared by C. elegans accompanied with behavioral responses to substance misuse is still scarce. This alternative model for rodents and other animal organism has been used to investigate genetic mechanism and specific genes coding drug-induced behavioral response. However, there is very few papers reported to summarize and analyze findings from original researches to identify target/genes underpinning responses to drug addiction.

Detection of the host-specific Bacterioides and Bifidobacteriumsaeculare markers in surface water in Hanam, Vietnam with real-time PCR

The microbiological quality of coastal or river waters can be affected by faecal pollution from human or animal sources. Contamination of fresh produce with pathogenic bacteria can be attributed directly or indirectly to the raw wastewater (domestic, industrial effluents, human and animal excrement). This includes water sources that are routinely used for crop irrigation and produce washing. An efficient MST (Microbial Source Tracking) toolbox consisting of several host-specific markers would, therefore, be valuable for identifying the origin of the faecal pollution in the environment and thus for effective resource management and remediation. As a result, the need for expanding from traditional techniques to molecular methods has been highly recommended.

Responses and Survival under Pegylated Interferon α2a Treatment for Patients with Post-MPN Acute Myeloid Leukemia and Acute Panmyelosis with Myelofibrosis

We report here for the first time the efficacy of pegylated interferon α2a (Peg-Ifn) as a therapy for patients with myelofibrosis and high blast counts. We treated four patients who were in an accelerated phase of myeloproliferative neoplasms or acute panmyelosis with myelofibrosis using only this drug.

Helicobacter pylori Infection and its Potential Association with Idiopathic Hypercalciuric Urolithiasis in Pediatric Patients

A total of 150 patients categorized into 100 cases (urolithiasis-positive) with urinary stone disease, aged from 5 to 18 years, and met the characteristics of idiopathic urolithiasis in children as well as 50 controls (urolithiasis-negative) that had relatively similar demographic criteria except for idiopathic urolithiasis.

Reduction of Bitterness and Enhancing Palatability of Cetirizine Oral Liquid Dosage Forms by Cyclodextrins

The aim of this manuscript is to study cyclodextrins (CDs) as a potential excipient to suppress bitterness and enhance palatability of pediatric liquid preparations for Cetirizine, an extremely bitter drug. Natural α, β and γ CDs; and β CD derivatives such as hydroxyl propyl (HP), randomly methylated (RM) and sulfobutyl ether (SBE) β-CDs were screened in different molar ratios of 1:1, 1:2 and 1:3 for their inhibition of the extremely bitter taste of Cetirizine using the human gustatory sensation test.
