In vitro Digestibility of Indian Bamboo (Bambusa vulgaris) Leaves Associated with Stylosanthes guianensisin Ruminants

The study of the in vitrodigestibility of Indian bamboo (Bambusa vulgaris) leaves associated with Stylosanthes guianensisin ruminants was conducted in April 2019 in the Animal Production and Nutrition Research Unit of the University of Dschang. A bovine ruminal fluid, a source of energy (B. vulgaris) and a nitrogen source (S.guianensis) with or without polyethylene glycol (PEG) were used. A sample of rations based on B. vulgarisassociated with 0; 20 and 30% of S.guianensis, with or without PEG was removed, dried and milled to determine the chemical composition and evaluation of in vitrodigestibility. Results of this study showed that the addition of legume increased the total nitrogen content (MAT) (12.87, 13.03 and 13.56% DM) when the B. vulgariswas associated with 0; 20 and 30% S.guianensis.

The In Vitro Evaluation of Calcium and Bioactive Glass Based Pulp Capping Materials

Vital pulp preservation in the treatment of deep caries is challenging due to sealing issue. The aim of this study was to compare the physicochemical properties and radiopacity of various light curing pulp capping materials. In this study, SEM-EDS analysis and the radiopacity of four different pulp capping materials including ThereCal LC, Biner LC, Calci Plus LC, and Activa-Bioactive were evaluated. Each material was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and chemical composition of each material was analyzed by energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopic (EDS) analysis. The diskshaped specimens (8 mm diameter and 1 mm thickness) were prepared from each material and exposed to a digital x-ray along with an aluminum step wedge for the radiopacity assay. The statistical analysis was performed with ANOVA and Duncan’s post-hoc test.

In Vitro Antioxidant Activity of Aqueous Extracts from the Atemoya Fruit (Peel, Pulp, and Seed): Correlation of Their Protein, Carbohydrate, and Phenolic Compound Contents

The properties of several fruits still remain unevaluated, with regard to being the source of antioxidant compounds, one of such fruits being atemoya. In this study, three parts (seed, pulp, and peel) of atemoya were submitted to extraction. Five water volume ratios (1:1, 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, and 1:10) were used in relation to the same material mass rendered, thus, five extracts from each part.

Investigation on Silver Ion Release from Wound Dressings In Vitro and In Vivo

Introduction: In recent years, silver ion based dressings have been widely developed and approved in the market. Meanwhile, methods for selecting appropriate standard models to investigate the silver ion release in vitro and in vivo remains unknown with regard to the safety assessment.Methods and Results: In this study, we have identified that silver ion release in eagle minimum essential mediums(MEM) with 10% fetal calf serum had shown better release kinetics in comparison to other vehicles including simulated body fluid (SBF), 0.9% physiological saline, and 5% glucose.

In Vitro Comparison of Margin Fracture Strength of E.MaxTM and EmpressTM Inlays

Ceramic restorations are appealing because of their esthetics, high hardness and wear resistance. They can replace a composite or amalgam restoration in teeth where buccal and lingual walls remain intact and where excessive isthmus width contraindicates the use of a direct posterior composite restoration. Recent clinical trials have shown that porcelain restorations with margins on the occlusal surface of a posterior tooth tend to fail due to fracture of the porcelain under biting forces.

Benefits and Constraints of Vitrification Technologies for Cryopreservation of Bovine In Vitro Fertilized Embryos

Cryopreservation is the use of ultra-low temperatures to preserve whole living cells and tissues in order to retain their structural integrity and maintain their physiological viability. It enables long term storage of cells in order to circumvent the need for continuous in vitro culture. When cryopreserving bovine embryos there are two means of cryopreservation: slow programmable freezing and vitrification. While controlled-rate and slow freezing can be applied widely to in vivo derived-embryos, this methodology remains less successful for embryos produced in vitro.
