Increasing CD8+ T Cells and Pro-Inflammatory Cytokines is associated with Hypersensitivity Reactions in People Living with HIV-1 under Antiretroviral Treatment

Background: Despite their good efficacy, antiretroviral drugs often induce adverse effects, in particular hypersensitivity reactions (HSR) which cause significant discomfort leading to the abandonment of treatment and then to therapeutic failure in some HIV-positive patients. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to assess the association between immune responses and hypersensitivity reactions (HSR) induced by antiretroviral treatment in people who living with HIV-1 (PLHIV-1), through the distribution of immune cells and cytokine profiles.

Therapeutic response to anti-TNF antibody treatment in inflammatory bowel diseases is strongly influenced by transmembrane tumor necrosis factor (mTNF) expression in the intestinal mucosa. Fluorescent anti-TNF antibodies applied for in vivo molecular endoscopy have shown to be able to quantify mucosal mTNF expression in real-time and predict response to subsequent anti-TNF treatment in individual patients with Crohn’s.

The Simultaneous Activation of Nrf2 and Antioxidant Compounds may reduce the Risk, Progression, and Improve the Management of Diabetes by Reducing Oxidative and Inflammatory Damages

Despite extensive research, the incidence of diabetes continues to increase, and the management of diabetes needs improvement, because in 2016, more than 100,000 patients had lower extremity amputated, suffered ischemic heart disease and stroke. Analysis of investigations indicates that increased oxidative stress and chronic inflammation enhance the risk, progression, diabetic–related complications, and reduce effectiveness of drug therapy. Therefore, simultaneously attenuation of these cellular abnormalities may help in reducing the risk of development, progression, and prolonging the effectiveness of drug therapy.

Standardization of Pro-Inflammatory Cytokines (IL-1 & TNF-α) and Haematological Biomarker as an Early Assessment of Health Status in Adult Healthy Pigs

An Adjuvant Approach to Alleviate Reoccurring or Treatment Resistant Symptoms of IBD in Companion Animals

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a common yet distressing condition afflicting tissues of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract in companion animals; symptoms include vomiting, diarrhoea, loss of appetite and weight loss. Pathogenesis of IBD may link to both diet and parasitic or bacterial infections of the gut. Although current treatments may provide some relief to the animal, unfortunately recurrent flaring of symptoms is not uncommon. Therapeutic interventions available to the veterinarian include those that focus on treating any underlying infection and or a change in diet, both employed with the aim of reducing inflammation.

Intracranial Inflammatory Pseudotumor: A Case Report and Review of the Literature

Inflammatory pseudotumors are lesions characterized by inflammatory cell infiltration and fibrosis. Central nervous system (CNS) inflammatory pseudotumors are much rarer, and generally manifest in the sellar and parasellar regions. We report a patient with an inflammatory pseudotumor in the temporal and occipital lobes treated in our department in 2017, and present a literature review. We discuss the etiology, imaging, pathology, and treatment of intracranial inflammatory pseudotumors.

Early Spondyloarthritis Presenting as Premenopausal Osteoporosis and Multiple Vertebral Fractures: A Case Report

We report a 30-year-old woman who presented during pregnancy with mechanical type backache due to non-traumatic multiple vertebral fractures. In-depth the assessment revealed multiple risk factors for osteoporosis, including adolescent steroid use for asthma, prolonged breastfeeding, and vitamin D deficiency. She also had persistently elevated inflammatory markers with radiological evidence of early inflammatory Sacro-ileitis. The rheumatoid factor and HLA B27 were negative. She was successfully managed with NSAIDS, zoledronic acid, and calcium supplementation. This is an example of early inflammatory arthritis in the background of multiple risk factors causing osteoporosis severe enough to cause fragility fractures. This signifies the importance of screening for multiple risk factors in pre-menopausal osteoporosis even in the presence of one or two identified risk factors.

The ACAI (Euterpe oleracea Mart.) Pulp Consumption Improves Blood Pressure Levels in Women with Higher Concentrations of Interferon-Gamma

Interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) is associated with the inflammatory responses modulation, which could culminate in chronic metabolic diseases. In this context, the aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of the acai (Euterpe oleracea Mart. mart.) pulp consumption on the anthropometric, clinical and biochemical parameters in women clinically healthy, with IFN-γ, respectively, smaller and higher than 5 pg/mL. Twenty four women in G1 (with IFN-γ concentrations smaller than 5 pg/mL) and sixteen in G2 (with IFN-γ concentrations greater than 5 pg / mL), consumed 200g per day of acai pulp during four weeks. Is there Correlations among SLEDAI, Pro-Inflammatory Biomarkers and Urine NGAL in SLE?

Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune inflammatory disease. Several indexes can measure SLE activity, and Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Disease Activity Index (SLEDAI) is one of them. The aim was to associate SLEDAI with inflammatory biomarkers present in serum (C3, C4, CH50, C-reactive protein, and creatinine), proteinuria (urine 24h) and urine NGAL in SLE patients. This study included 43 SLE patients who were arranged in two groups according to the value of SLEDAI. One group, SLEDAI 0-4 (n=25), included SLE patients with low activity, and the other group, SLEDAI >4 (n=18), included SLE patients form moderate to high activity. Level of urine NGAL (uNGAL) was determined by ELISA, and the data were analyzed using GraphPad Prism 5.

Invitro and Invivo Anti-Inflammatory Activity of Bauhinia X Blackeana Linn Leaves

The present study is to investigate the anti-inflammatory activity of Bauhinia X blackeana leaves by in vivo on rats and in vitro using HRBC membrane stabilizing method. Diclofenac sodium was used as reference drug for comparison. The methanolic extract showed significant activity when compared to the standard drug.

Internal Inflammatory Root Resorption. Management with Mineral Trioxide Aggregate and Gutta-Percha

Early diagnosis and accurate treatment are essential for Internal Inflammatory Root Resorption (IIRR) control. The aim is to present the sequence of diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of an IIRR using gutta-percha (GP) and Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA) as obturation materials. This study exhibits an IIRR case in the #9 tooth of a 64-year old patient. History refers to a horse’s kick suffered ten years earlier. The tooth was asymptomatic during the interim time period but eventually the patient experienced symptomology. Following a detailed exam, a treatment plan was reached to save the tooth and maintain its functionality.
