Dengue fever remains an annual worldwide threat to human health, even though Aedes eradication programs based on the typical route of mosquito- borne transmission have successfully controlled dengue epidemics to a considerable extent. Interestingly, most cases of dengue infection in humans reported in the tropical regions of Asia, Oceania, Africa, and the Americas are due to horizontal transmission. This suggests contribution of atypical transmission routes to continuous infections.

Bite marks are commonly observed in cases such as slaughter, sexual assault, child abuse cases, and during sports events. Bitemark is a type of ‘patterned injury’ which played an important role as evidence in judicial system. Bite marks can find on various body parts and various edible leftovers at the Crime Scene which can be used as evidence for identification of the criminals. Teeth impression shows sexual dimorphism and therefore helps in gender estimation. The various dental characteristics are individual-specific. A piece of exhaustive information and examination of indentations can help in the vindication of the guiltless as well as give decisive proof to the conviction of criminals. In certain violations, indentation proof is the main proof on which conviction has been accomplished, especially in rape and kid abuse cases. The present review describes the importance of bite mark analysis, estimation of gender through bite marks, and stability of teeth impression in diverse conditions. This article can give a better comprehension of the methodology used in forensic dentistry when investigating dental impressions.

Analyze the abortion of a pregnant 10-year-old girl who was repeatedly raped by her uncle in the state of Espirito Santo paralyzed Brazil. Pregnancy was revealed on the 7th of August, when the girl went to a local hospital suffering from abdominal pain. The girl claimed that she has been raped by the relative since she was 6 years old and that she did not report him to the authorities before, due to the fear caused by the uncle’s threats.

Aeric syndrome during a multiple trauma reflects the severity of this latter, which made mention to extra thoracic or intra thoracic lesion. This requires a good diagnostic and therapeutic strategy. We report the case of a young patient admitted to emergency in an array of closed multiple traumas where the etiological diagnosis was rare and unknown. This case highlights that a careful questioning and a good examination in admission can reveal earlier the diagnosis, the thing that was not well led in our case, because the patient was mute, anxious, and not cooperating making unnoticed rape history.

We have presented in this paper alternative computation to arrive at results obtained in Lindsey and Altham (1998) on the use of the beta-binomial, the double binomial and the multiplicative binomial models to the Human Sex Ratio data. Our procedure estimates fewer parameters and thus the goodness-of-fit test statistics computed here are based on more d.f. The results obtained, using SAS PROC NLMIXED agree with those presented in the Lindsey et al. paper.

Toxoplasmosis is a cosmopolitan disease with acute and chronic infections, caused by the obligate intracellular protozoan parasite. Toxoplasma gondii that can infect a variety of cells in almost all warm blooded animals including humans. The study aimed to determine the seroprevalence of T. gondii infection among males in Duhok city using ELISA (IgG and IgM).The relationship between toxoplasmosis and reproductive hormones including testosterone, free testosterone, and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) levels and its association with male sterility were also investigated.

Usual fluctuations of sex hormones during the estrous cycle in female mice affect the hippocampal neurogenesis. The hippocampus also comprises many steroid receptors suggesting the modulatory effects of gonadal hormones on the hippocampal plasticity. Sex differences at the level of structure and function of the hippocampus are mostly due to the fluctuations of steroid hormones during the estrous cycle. The purpose of this study was to investigate relationship with serum sex hormone levels and the expression of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) at different phases of the estrous cycle.

It has been reported that a large percentage of men and women had experiences of sexual abuse during childhood the effects of which are determined by factors such as age, gender, characteristics of the experience, and cultural aspects, among others. In Mexico, only a limited number of sexual abuse cases are reported to the relevant authorities and even fewer receive adequate care and treatment. This article presents an evaluation of the effectiveness of an individualized cognitive-behavioral treatment involving a group psychoeducational workshop and a workshop for caregivers of two Mexican male children who had experienced sexual abuse. Clinical and cognitive evaluations, pre- and post-test treatment, and follow-up one-and-a-half years later were made. Differences between the two participants were found in all three evaluation periods. Various factors associated with these results are discussed.

AGHA in partnership with THETA and MNL with funding from CDC is implementing a Local Capacity Initiative project aimed at building capacity of CSOs working with KPs in Mukono, Kampala and Wakiso to advocate for improved HIV services. In Uganda, HIV prevalence among the general population stands at an average of 7.3% while among SWs is 35-37% and MSM at 13.7% between the age of 18-24.Over 40-50% of the new infections come from KPs (UAC, HIV /AIDS Indicator survey 2011). Programs targeting KPs continue to be characterized by limited coverage, poorly linked care, treatment and referral services. The project has increased capacity of 15 CSOs to demand accountability from government on national commitments on KPs; increased capacity of KPs to identify the legal and policy framework that impede equitable access, increased participation and representation of community leaders and KPs living with HIV in the governance structures that influence health services delivery.

Sexual assault is a social problem faced by every society irrespective of caste, creed or culture. In cases of sexual assault, as soon as the victim files the First Information Report (F.I.R.) she gets the medical examination at nearby government hospital by a gynecologist. But it is seen that due to hesitation, social problems or any kind of relation between the victim and the accused matter is not reported immediately to the police. This hesitation results in the delay of the medical examination and collection of samples like vaginal swabs, breast swabs, nails swab, and other bodily swabs. The effects of the levonorgestrel-intrauterine system (LNG-IUS) on urinary and sexual functions of women with idiopathic menorrhagia were evaluated using two internationally validated questionnaire forms. This prospective study included (30-49) year-old women with idiopathic menorrhagia (n=91), who visited the Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic of the hospital. The index of female sexual function (IFSF) questionnaire and the international consultation on incontinence modular questionnaire short form (ICIQ-UI) were used to evaluate sexual and urinary system functions, respectively, pre-, and 6 and 12 months post-LNG-IUS insertion. The IFSF scores were (mean ± SD) 27.1 ± 6.9, 30.0 ± 7.2, and 32.7 ± 7.5 at pre-, and 6 and 12 months post-LNG-IUS insertion, respectively (p<0.001). Compared with pre-LNG-IUS use among 91 patients, the IFSF score (symptoms improved) was increased in 47 and 60 patients and decreased (worsening symptoms) in 10 and 8 patients at 6 and 12 months post-LNG-IUS use, respectively. The ICIQ-UI scores were 4.9 ± 4.4, 3.7 ± 4.0, 2.8 ± 3.0 in pre-, 6, and 12 months post-LNG-IUS insertion, respectively (p<0.001). Compared with pre-LNG-IUS use, the ICIQ-UI score decreased (symptoms improved) in 33 women either in 6 or 12 months post-LNG-IUS use and increased (symptoms worsened) in 11 and 4 patients at 6 and 12 months post-LNG-IUS insertion, respectively.

Between 2010-2014, Fundacion Huesped and the Youth for Health Network implemented a sexuality education program, dance4life, in public schools in Argentina. A process evaluation was conducted in 2014 to assess the implementation of the program between 2010 and 2013, and make preliminary assessments of the impact on youth sexual and reproductive health.
