Rotational Effect on Waves Propagation Modeling in a Poroelastic Bone

In this work, the dynamic behavior of a wet long bone that has been modeled as transversely isotropic hollow cylinder of crystal class 6 subjected to rotation is investigated. The solution wave for the wave propagation problem is expressed in term of a potential function which satisfies an eight-order partial differential equation, whose solutions lead to the derivation of the explicit solution of the wave equation.

Rehabilitation Outcomes under Precaution-Free Management for Dislocation after Bipolar Hemiarthroplasty with a Conjoined Tendon Preserving Posterior Approach: A Retrospective Case-Control Study

Early rehabilitation after bipolar hemiarthroplasty (BHA) requires risk management for postoperative dislocation. Since April 2018, BHA has been performed at our hospital using a conjoined tendon-preserving posterior (CPP) approach, which preserves the piriformis and short rotator muscles (the gemellus superior, the obturator internus and the gemellus inferior) and dissects only the external obturator.

Patterns of Tubal Abnormalities Responsible for Infertility in Makurdi, North-Central Nigeria

Infertility is a menace with untoward emotional, financial and sometimes traumatic consequences. This is a retrospective observational study with some interest concerning the epidemiology of tubal infertility in Nigeria. It is the experience of a single center that evaluates the outcome of HSG examination with the main objective of identifying tuberous occlusions at a private Imaging Centre in Makurdi.

Blastic Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cell Neoplasm Presenting as a Harbinger of Acute Myeloid Leukemia

A 51 year old female was referred to our dermatology clinic for a rapidly growing lump on head of 6 weeks duration. On examination we observed a 15 cm diameter erythematous crusted tumor on the forehead with significant bilateral cervical lymphadenopathy. An excision biopsy of the tumor revealed a malignant high grade diffuse undifferentiated infiltrating neoplasm involving the skin and subcutaneous tissue.

Conventional and Advanced Nanotechnological Approaches for Wastewater Treatment

The industrialization, urbanization and economic growth have placed a much higher demand of clean water and energy worldwide. The human activities have constantly been contaminating the reservoirs of fresh water which as a result, has triggered a global challenge to keep up the demand and supply of the fresh water for an optimal human survival. Wastewater effluents generated through commercial and industrial activities have been released to the freshwater resources either directly or indirectly

Ecological and Health Infrastructure Factors Affecting the Transmission and Mortality of COVID-19

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has be designated a pandemic less than 4 months after its first outbreak. Due to the novelty of the virus, there is little understanding of how ecological factors affect transmission of the coronavirus. This study aims to determine the relationship of temperature, absolute humidity, and health infrastructure on COVID-19 transmission and mortality.

A Review of General Policies and Regulations of Solid Waste Management in Saudi Arabia

Municipal or household solid wastes are generated from several sources in Saudi Arabia and more than 80% of population is concentered in different urban areas and solid waste generation in three largest cities in Saudi Arabia such as Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam where variable human activities are encountered.

Predictive Modeling of Autophagy Interrelation with Fasting

Autophagy is an abnormal physiological process in the body that deals with the destruction of cells in the body as it maintains homeostasis or normal functioning by protein degradation and turnover of the destroyed cell organelles for new cell formation. Non-essential parts like damaged proteins are recycled and invading microorganisms and toxic compounds are removed. As per the physiological process, if the human body does not undertake regular bouts of autophagy, process ends up with dysfunction, metabolically inflexible mitochondria.

Epidemiology and Multidrug Resistance of Strongyle Nematodes in Ordos Finewool Sheep

Regular whole-flock treatments and long-term repeated use of similar anthelmintics has led to the development of anthelmintic resistance and widespread epidemic of sheep nematodiasis. The current work was carried out to understand the prevalence of gastrointestinal nematodes in Ordos fine-wool sheep and to evaluate the efficacy of currently used anthelmintics.

Six Years to Diagnose Bilateral Congenital Choanal Atresia: A Case Report

Bilateral choanal atresia is a rare congenital malformation, which causes asphyxia neonatorum rarely compatible with life, making this pathology a diagnostic and therapeutic emergency. We report a very rare case of bilateral choanal atresia in a girl who survived to the age of 6 without neonatal care, and we discuss the clinical, endoscopic, radiological aspects and the treatment of this condition

Cranial Vault Tumor Revealing Metastatic Thyroid Carcinoma

Distant metastases from follicular thyroid carcinoma are not uncommon, but bone localization in the cranial vault is extremely rare. Although these metastases have a poor prognosis, early diagnosis and appropriate treatment can improve quality of life. We report a case of follicular thyroid carcinoma revealed by a metastasis of the cranial vault initially diagnosed as meningioma.
