Symptoms of Depression Can be More Frequent in Non-Surgical Patients with Left Lateralization of Temporal Lobe Epilepsy: A Systematic Review
Considering that the side of epileptogenic focus is a factor that could contribute to depressive and anxiety symptoms, we propose a
systematic review searching for the prevalence of depression in Temporal Lobe Epilepsy in non-surgical patients.
An Adjuvant Approach to Alleviate Reoccurring or Treatment Resistant Symptoms of IBD in Companion Animals
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a common yet distressing condition afflicting tissues of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract in
companion animals; symptoms include vomiting, diarrhoea, loss of appetite and weight loss. Pathogenesis of IBD may link to both
diet and parasitic or bacterial infections of the gut. Although current treatments may provide some relief to the animal, unfortunately
recurrent flaring of symptoms is not uncommon. Therapeutic interventions available to the veterinarian include those that focus on
treating any underlying infection and or a change in diet, both employed with the aim of reducing inflammation.
Is it Just Shoulder Pain or Insidious Foot Step of Parkinson’S Disease? A Minireview of the Literature
Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a chronic, disabling hypokinetic movement disorder with a broad spectrum of symptomatology including motor and non-motor complaints. Since non-motor symptoms of the disease such as musculoskeletal pain including shoulder pain is often underestimated, and is prone to occur during the course of the disease, as well as the prodromal phase of PD, it is important to keep in mind that shoulder pain may be a foot step of an evolving PD, and may need further investigation in terms of PD.
Prodromal Symptoms and Signs of First Episode Schizophrenia in Iraq
Onset of schizophrenia is often preceded by other symptoms and types of behaviour, usually referred to as prodromal symptoms. Identify the main prodromal symptoms and signs preceding the full blown picture of first episode schizophrenia. This is a cross-section study. 328 Iraqi first episode schizophrenic inpatients admitted to Ibn-Rushed psychiatric mental hospital were examined during the period June, 1st, 2009 to June, 1st, 2011. Diagnosis confirmed through a Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV-TR. List of sociodemographic and clinical data was used. Detailed psychiatric history taking and mental state examination were applied. Supplemental information was obtained from patients and family members.
Suspected Allergic Reaction in Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops truncatus)
Over the course of several years, three members of a Bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus) group showed periodical bouts of pruritus and dermatological lesions. The affected animals were a 25-year-old cow and her 5 and 7-year-old offspring, all housed in a mixed indoor/outdoor facility. The signs were first noted in 2005 and escalated over time until 2012, when a final diagnosis of the problem was attempted. Diagnostic tests included blood analysis and skin biopsies, swab microbiological cultures from the wheals, intradermal tests and response to treatment with corticosteroids. Clinical picture and histopathological findings, as well as response to methylprednisolone, were considered compatible with an allergic dermatitis.
The Treatment of Symptoms in Atopic Dermatitis as a Superantigen Disease
This research proposed a treatment for the symptoms of the disease – skin rash, intestinal tract and cervical spine disorders. The treatment proposed (by the use of combined disinfectants) proofed effective for the treatment of skin rash. The researchers hope that this treatment will be adopted by health practitioners. Further study could look into the treatment of skin rash, along with intestinal tract and cervical spine disorders.

DNA Methylation Status of the Methylenetetrahydrofolate Reductase Gene is associated with Depressive Symptoms in Japanese Workers: A Cross-Sectional Study
Polymorphisms in methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) gene, that is considered to be the most important genetic determinant of blood homocysteine concentration, are associated with various diseases, including psychiatric disorders. However, the epigenetic factors influencing on the transcription and expression of this gene are unclear.
Rasagiline-associated Hypersexuality
Hypersexual behavior has been reported in patients with Parkinson disease, particularly when treated with dopamine
agonists. The effect on sexual behavior of monoamine oxidase inhibitors type B (MAO-B) is less clear cut.
Descriptive Study of Exposure to Inhalation Zanamivir and Pregnancy-Related Outcomes
The Health Improvement Network (THIN) provided data from UK General Practitioners (GPs) for 144 pregnant women who were prescribed zanamivir and 144 age- and date-matched untreated comparators with no recorded diagnosis of influenza. Groups were assessed for baseline characteristics, treatment-emergent diagnoses in the mother, pregnancy outcomes and congenital malformations diagnosed in the offspring within 28 days of birth.
Wake-up Strokes Are Similar to Known-Onset Morning Strokes in Severity and Outcome
Stroke symptoms noticed upon waking, wake-up stroke, account for up to a quarter of all acute ischemic strokes. Patients with wake-up stroke, however, are often excluded from thrombolytic therapy.
Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (Flutd) – An Emerging Problem of Recent Era
Feline lower urinary tract disease (FLUTD) is a supposed to a life threatening condition in cats, especially in males (Toms), when obstructive. Early diagnosis and treatment is necessary otherwise it may lead to death. Condition appears with stranguria, pollakiuria, dysuria and sometime in severe conditions hematuria and anuria may be present. Similar five cases of age ranging from 3-6 years, with common history of commercial feed and indoor placement were examined during the course of 3 month. Firstly clinical evaluation including clinical parameters and physical manipulation was done followed by laboratory tests. Complete blood count (CBC) didn’t give any significant change but urinalysis results were quite doubtful with high values of specific gravity (SP), pH, erythrocyte, bacterial and leukocyte count.
A Reintegration Program for Elderly Prisoners Reduces Reoffending
Harsh sentences have resulted in many prisoners being elderly at the time of their release. However, the longer individuals have been incarcerated and the older they are, the more difficult it may be for them to re-enter free society. We developed a reintegration program to promote their successful adjustment to society and to prevent their reoffending, and evaluated its effectiveness. Participants were 25 older prisoners in Japan; all were homeless and more than 65 years old.
