Dosimetric Comparison between Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy versus Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy Treatment Plans for Breast Cancer
This study compared the dosimetric characteristics of Intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) and volumetric
modulated arc therapy (VMAT) techniques regarding target volume coverage and dose to heart, spinal cord, and lung for
patients with breast cancer. We analyzed the dosimetric differences of plans in the treatment planning system (TPS) between IMRT and VMAT in treating breast cancer. The aim of this study is to compare the dosimetric aspects of IMRT plans
with VMAT according to EMAMI, QUANTEC, and RTOG protocols
Correlation between Overall Survival and Quality of Life in Patients with Esophageal Cancer: A Comparison between Radiation and Chemoradiation
Desirable treatment options for inoperable esophageal cancer considering not only overall survival (OS) but also quality of life (QOL) during the entire clinical course remain unclear. We evaluated OS and QOL during the clinical course of patients with inoperable esophageal cancer undergoing chemoradiation or radiation. Forty-four patients with inoperable esophageal cancer between 2015 and 2020 were included in this retrospective study.
Long-Term Survival in Glioblastoma: Case Report
Glioblastoma is the most common and most deadly type of primary brain malignant tumors. despite applying the best trimodal treatment consisting of surgery chemoterapy and radiotherapy, there are few patients who survive decades after treatment.
Huge Capillary Haemangioma of the Nasal Fossae
Hemangiomas are frequently observed lesions in the head and neck region, those of the nasal cavity and sinuses are very rare. They are divided into two histological types, capillary and cavernous ones
Complete Clinical Response after Induction Chemotherapy Followed by Chemoradiotherapy in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma: Impact on Oncologic Outcomes
Objective: Concomitant chemoradiation (RCT) represents the standard of care for locally-advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC).Nevertheless induction chemotherapy (IC) followed by RCT is currently an attractive approach. Some trials showed a survival benefit of this therapeutic strategy. The aim of this study was to analyze complete clinical response (CCR) after IC and to assess its impact on disease control and survival.
Primary Osteosarcoma of the Nasal Fossa: An Exceptional Presentation
Sarcomas of the head and neck are very rare accounting for approximately 1% of all head and neck neoplasms. Primary osteosarcomas of the nasal cavity are less than 0.5% of the osteosarcomas occur in this location. Because of the rarity of this presentation, we report a case of a 54 year old male with primary osteosarcoma arising de novo from the nasal cavity, presented with left epistaxis and bilateral nasal obstruction.
Paediatric Radiotherapy in Morocco
In Morocco, through the finding of the Casablanca population-based registry, all cancers are estimated at 35000 new cases par year and 3.2% are aged less or equal 20 years.
A Rare Case of Small Cell Neuroendocrine Carcinoma of the Nasal Cavity and Paranasal Sinuses
Neuroendocrine neoplasms are defined as epithelial neoplasms with predominant neuroendocrine differentiation. They are most commonly found in the gastrointestinal tract and respiratory system.
Effect of Neoadjuvant Chemoradiotherapy on Pathologic Stage and Survival in Patients with Locally Advanced Esophageal Cancer
The treatment of resectable stages of esophageal cancer often involves pre-operative concurrent chemoradiotherapy. This study aims to evaluate the effect of cisplatin/5-fluorouracil (5-FU)-based neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy on pathologic stage and survival in patients with locally advanced esophageal cancer.
Extramedullary Plasmacytoma of the Nasal Cavity: Case Report
The extramedullary plasmacytoma is a rare malignant proliferation clone secreting a monoclonal immunoglobulin. The location to the upper aerodigestive tract represents 80-90% of cases.
Gastroesophageal Cancer: Prognostic Factors and Treatment Results
The study presents the remote results of surgical treatment of 329 patients with cancer of gastroesophageal localization. Three 3-year survival rate is 37.1%, the 5-year survival rate is 26.2%. Prognosis after the surgery depends primarily on the extent of the tumour spread.
Shaker Exercise Rehabilitation in Head and Neck Cancer and Stroke Patients with Dysphagia - A Pilot Study
Dysphagia is a common sequela post (chemo) radiotherapy ([C]RT) for head and neck cancer (HNC) and after stroke. The Shaker maneuver is a promising rehabilitative exercise for improvement of swallowing function by means of strengthening neck musculature.
Lip Cancer: Epidemiologic, Clinical, Evolutive, and Therapeutical Aspects
Lip cancer is relatively common, despite the progress seen recently in Morocco in terms of labial-jugal cancer reconstructions.
Lip cancer is often seen in advanced stages and poses management problems.
Image-Guided Radiotherapy Using MV for Prostate Cancer: A Correlation Analysis between Electronic Portal Imaging with Fiducial Markers and Cone Beam CT
IGRT combined with three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy (3D CRT) and intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) is gaining quick acceptance in radiotherapy treatment of prostate cancer [1-4]. The advantage of this technique is that it localizes the target volume accurately, thus increasing precision in treatment delivery.
Malignant Fibrous Histiocytoma Accompanying Hemorrhage in the Pleural Cavity
Malignant fibrous histiocytoma is a type of soft tissue tumor that frequently occurs in the limbs, trunk, retroperitoneum, etc. We herein report a case of MFH occurring in the thoracic wall, which was accompanied by hemorrhage in the pleural cavity. A 79-year-old male transferred to our hospital for a detailed examination of a chest wall tumor in his right back. The tumor was diagnosed as pleomorphic malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) by an incisional biopsy.
