Isolated Extrapontine Myelinolysis Presenting as Acute-onset Reversible Parkinsonism in a Boy with Adrenocortical Insufficiency
Isolated extrapontine myelinolysis is an uncommon form of osmotic demyelination syndrome (ODS) in paediatric age group. We describe a child with primary adrenocortical insufficiency manifesting as cyclical vomiting syndrome, which in turn has complicated in the form of extrapontine myelinolysis manifesting as reversible acute parkinsonism.
A major issue in adherence to medical treatment in nausea and vomiting of pregnancy (NVP) is mothers’ fear of perceived teratogenic damage. The objective of this study was to identify predictors of adherence to medication treatment in NVP. A prospective cohort study based on telephone interviews among women who experienced NVP and counseled by Motherisk Israel NVP Helpline, located in a teratology information service. The consultation was divided into pharmacological and non-pharmacological recommendations. Data on adherence to medications and pregnancy outcomes were collected during telephone follow up interviews which were carried out soon after the birth of the child.
A 13 year old, premenarchal, previously healthy girl presented to the emergency department of our hospital with complaints of vomiting, constipation and abdominal pain for past one day. Anti-Inflammatory and Anti-Arthritic Efficacy and Safety of Purified Shilajit in Moderately Arthritic Dogs
The objective of this investigation was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of purified Shilajit in moderately arthritic dogs. Ten client-owned dogs in a randomized double-blinded study received either a placebo or Shilajit (500 mg) twice daily for a period of five months. Dogs were evaluated each month for physical condition (body weight, body temperature, heart rate, and respiration rate) and pain associated with arthritis (overall pain, pain from limb manipulation, and pain after physical exertion).
