Dr. Kit-Lam Chan, a senior Professor at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) has served as Deputy Dean and Head of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Director of Center for Drug Research, USM. He received his BPharm Honours and PhD from the National University of Singapore. He was a Commonwealth Fellow to the Pharmacy School, University of London, a Fellow of the Japan Society for Promotion of Sciences (JSPS) to Kyoto University, a UNESCO Scientist to the Natural Products Research Institute, Korea, and a Japan Bioindustry Association Scientist to Tokyo University of Pharmacy and Life Science, Japan. He published over 200 research papers, books and several patents. He served as a WHO Advisor/Consultant on traditional/complementary medicines in Hanoi, Beijing and Manila.
Dr. Kit-Lam Chan research is mainly focused on Developing evidence-based medicinal herbs into potentially bioactive commercial products, Standardization of biomolecules in herbal and pharmaceutical dosage forms, Bioavailability and pharmacokinetic studies of bioactive molecules from synthetic and plant sources, Pharmacological evaluation of bioactive molecules from synthetic and plant sources, Toxicological studies of medicinal herbal products.
