Research Interests

Assoc. Professor Kirk's expertise encompasses a broad range of techniques used in health technology assessment, health informatics, health services research and evaluation and policy based research. He has a special interest in evidence based health care and has presented widely at conferences on health technology assessment issues.

His current and recent research grants include:
• Low dose rate (LDR) Brachytherapy for localised prostate cancer
• Evaluation of the Canterbury Initiative
• Development of a eprocurement evaluation
• Impact of Christchurch earthquakes on health of older people
• Effectiveness of telehealth compared to face-to-face training for rural General Practitioners
• Pain services - pain management approaches
