Dr. Modyanov received his PhD in from the Shemyakin- Ovchinnikov Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry, Moscow, Russia in 1973, where he subsequently was doing research for 25 years. He was a Head of Laboratory of Membrane Biochemistry since1986. In 1994 he joined the University of Toledo College Of Medicine as Professor of Physiology and Pharmacology. He is a member of the Center for Diabetes and Endocrine Research. He has published many articles. For over 30 years his research has focused on the molecular aspects of the ion-transporting X, K-ATPases (Na,K- and H, K-ATPases): receptors for cardiotonic and anti-ulcer drugs. He resently discovered   the unique BetaM proteins encoded by ATP1B4 genes, members of X, K-ATPase gene family.

Dr. Tsinoremas is an international leader in computational genomics and bioinformatics with over 20 years of academic and industrial experience.  He currently holds faculty appointments in the Departments of Medicine, Computer Science, and Health Informatics at the University of Miami.  In addition to the faculty appointments, he is the Founding Director of the Center for Computational Science, which was established to facilitate interdisciplinary collaborations requiring computation.  He received his B.A. in Chemistry from the University of Athens, Greece, and his Ph.D.  in Molecular Biology from the University of Leeds, UK.   Dr. Tsinoremas served as Senior Director of Informatics at The Scripps Research Institute- Florida. In the past, he was Director of Computational Genomics and Genomic Discovery at Rosetta/Merck where he directed the project that combined informatics and computational approaches with gene expression profiling and genetics to discover, prioritize, and define drug target genes.  Prior to working for Merck/Rosetta, Tsinoremas was the Vice-President of Genomics at DoubleTwist Inc., where he determined the scientific direction of DoubleTwist¹s bioinformatics applications and databases.

Dr. Stefan Hiendleder is currently working as Professor in University of Adelaide, Australia. He studied Agricultural/Animal Science at Justus-Liebig University (JLU) of Giessen, Germany where he obtained a PhD in 1989. He was appointed Assistant Professor Animal Breeding and Genetics at JLU in 1990. After sabbaticals at the Academy of Sciences, Kazakhstan (1991) and the University of Saskatchewan, Canada he obtained a habilitation degree in Animal Genetics (Dr.agr.habil.) in 1996. He worked at JLU as Associate Professor until joining the Molecular Animal Breeding and Biotechnology Group at the Gene Center of the Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU) in Munich, Germany. Dr. Hiendleder focused on the emerging field of Epigenetics and completed a second habilitation degree (Dr.med.vet.habil.) in Functional Genomics and Biotechnology. He was appointed JS Davies Professorial Fellow in 2005 and leads a research group investigating non-mendelian genetic and epigenetic effects in the School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences and the Robinson Research Institute. He has published extensively and received several awards and fellowships.

Dr. Alfred Cheng is an Associate Professor in the School of Biomedical Sciences at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). He completed his PhD under the supervision of Prof. Joseph Sung in the Department of Medicine and Therapeutics at CUHK in 2002 and completed post-doctoral training characterizing the roles of cyclooxygenase-2 in hepatitis B-induced hepatocarcinogenesis. From 2004 to 2007, he was trained as a post-doctoral researcher in Prof. Tim Huang’s lab at Ohio State University where he developed an integrated genome-wide and bioinformatics approach to interrogate gene regulatory network in cancer. He has received several scientific awards including the American Association of Cancer Research Scholar-in-Training Awards for 3 consecutive years from 2004 to 2006 and Travel Grants/Oral Free Paper Prize from the United European Gastroenterology from 2011 to 2013. Prof. Cheng has published in international journals including Molecular Cell, Nature Genetics, Journal of Clinical Investigation, Cancer Cell, Cancer Research, Gastroenterology and Gut. He has served as Principal Investigator capacity in 10 competitive local and national research projects.
