Biography

Dr. Stephen Michael Kavic is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, earning a B.A. in chemistry. He attended medical school at the Yale University School of Medicine. He also received his general surgery residency training at Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he served as administrative chief resident. He completed a two-year fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of Maryland. At present he is an Associate Professor of Surgery at University of Maryland School of Medicine. In addition to being board certified in general surgery, Dr. Kavic has authored or co-authored 25 peer-reviewed scientific papers and chapters. He is also a member of the Association for Surgical Education, Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, the Association for Academic Surgery, and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.

Research Interests

Dr. Stephen Michael Kavic's clinical interests include minimally invasive abdominal surgery, surgery of the gastrointestinal tract, endoscopy, and the surgical treatment of anorectal disease. He has pursued multiple research projects on colon cell adhesion, clinical outcomes, and quality of life studies.
