Biography

Andrzej Wernicki an academic teacher (the position of the full professor) employed at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Faculty of Food Science and Biotechnology. He is involved in teaching students with subject: Veterinary Prevention, Immunology and Biotechnology in the diagnosis and treatment of animals. Head of the Department of Veterinary Preventive and Director of the Institute of Biological Bases of Animal Diseases, University of Life Sciences in Lublin. Supervisor of seven academic dissertations and many master thesis He is member of Polish Society of Veterinary Sciences and The Committee of Veterinary Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He is also a member of the Editorial Board of the Polish Journal of Veterinary Science.

Research Interests

The etiology and pathogenesis of calf respiratory syndrome, immunoprophylaxis of shipping fever in cattle, effect of humoral immunological response of calves induced by Mannheimia haemolytica leukotoxin, effect of transport stress on the degree of sensitivity of leukocytes to the leukotoxin, the influence of transport stress on selected indicators of cellular immunity, the effect of chosen antioxidants on selected immunological parameters in bovine leukocytes, characterization of bovine conglutinin, bacteriophages as an alternative to antibiotics in the prophylaxis and therapy of animal diseases.
