Background: First-line treatment of primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) includes high-dose methotrex ate-based polychemotherapy (HD-MTX). Nevertheless, HD-MTX is associated with renal toxicity, potentially compromis ing chemotherapy completion and prognosis. Our objective was to identify early predictive factors of HD-MTX delayed elimination.

Although ibrutinib has shown significant therapeutic advantages in the front-line treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukaemia compared to current chemotherapy drugs, the fundamental question of whether ibrutinib improves anticancer ef ficacy and tolerability in patients with untreated or relapsed/refractory NHL, especially for specific histological subtypes, re mains unanswered

Introduction: Erythrocyte fetomaternal incompatibility is defined by the binding of erythrocyte alloantibodies of a pregnant woman to fetal antigens, inherited from the father. Alloantibodies are produced by the immune system after prior contact with these same antigens during transfusion, transplant or previous pregnancy.

This prospective clinical study assessed the effectiveness of the Kuhnke method in reducing limb volume in patients with Stage I and II lymphedema following instrumental lymphatic drainage therapy. Conducted at the Instrumental Therapy Center of Pirogov Medical University, Moscow, the study involved 54 patients treated under a standardized protocol. Re sults demonstrated significant limb volume reduction, particularly in Stage I patients, supporting the use of the Kuhnke method as an adjunctive therapy for early-stage lymphedema. Additionally, the study evaluated potential correlations be tween age, gender, and BMI to further understand the therapy’s efficacy

Hookworm infection is a major public health concern and is the major cause of anemia in pregnant women. e aim of this study was to assess the prevalence and risk factors of hookworm and anemia among pregnant women attending antenatal care at Dabat Primary Hospital and Debark General Hospital, northern Ethiopia. A cross-sectional hospital-based study in volving 384 pregnant women was conducted from March to June 2023. Stool samples were collected and analyzed for the presence of hookworm infection using wet-mount and formol-ether sedimentation techniques. A blood sample was also col lected and analyzed for the hemoglobin (Hb) level of pregnant women. List of Abbreviations: ANC: Antenatal care; AOR: Adjusted odds ratio; CI: Con dence interval; COR: Crude odds ratio; IPI: Intestinal parasitic infection; SPSS: Statistical package for social science; STH: Soil transmitted helmenth e overall prevalence of hookworm infections was 21.4%, and the prevalence of anemia in this study was 17.7%. e mean Hb value was 14.2 ± 0.07 g/dl, with a range of 7.3–19.6 (Hb) levels. Of the anemic pregnant women, 82.3%, 67.6%, and 7.4% had mild, moderate, and severe anemia, re spectively. e result of multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that residence, monthly income, gestation period, being unable to wear shoes, and soil eating habits were signi cant predictors of hookworm infection. In addition to this, monthly income, gestation period, and being unable to wear shoes were signi cant predictors of anemia in pregnant wom en in the study area. A relatively high prevalence of hookworm infections and anemia was observed among pregnant wom en. erefore, the study showed that it needs high work to increase the nutritional requirements of pregnant women since they increase during pregnancy and to help them wear shoes during pregnancy. An integrated hookworm prevention and control program should be designed as an important intervention program for women in general and pregnant women who participated in the study area.

A cross-sectional study was conducted to assess food habits among college students at Kuwait University (KU) utilizing a written questionnaire, targeting first year to higher education level regardless of age. Participants were recruited from different colleges (n=678) (73%, females, and 27% males) with a response rate of 98.8%. Data showed that 48.6% buy their foods from campus, and 38.2% of them eat in college daily. The taste was the most influential factor that is affecting food choices (53.7%), while only 2.9% of students considered cost as an important element

Endothelial heterogeneity reflects many functions performed by endothelial cells (ECs) in various tissues. However, the origin of this heterogeneity is unclear. Here, we report that tissue-specific ECs in lungs, brain, and liver co-expressed the lineage markers of their coordinating tissue-specific cells at very early stages. Specifically, we found that the pulmonary EC population was significantly suppressed after pulmonary epithelial-specific (Nkx2.1-Cre mediated) deletion of fetal liver kinase-1 (Flk1). Together, the results suggest that tissues-specific ECs may originate from the same progenitor cells as tissue-specific cells.

Identification of risk factors for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is important to enable comprehensive intervention to reduce OSA-related cardiovascular disease (CVD). The metabolic syndrome outcome study (MetSO) provides a unique opportunity to address these factors. This study investigated risk of OSA among blacks with metabolic syndrome.

Ovarian cancer constitutes the second most common gynecological cancer with a five-year survival rate of 40%. Among the various histotypes associated with hereditary ovarian cancer, high-grade serous epithelial ovarian carcinoma (HGSEOC) is the most predominant and women with inherited mutations in BRCA1 have a lifetime risk of 40-60%. HGSEOC is a challenge for clinical oncologists, due to late presentation of patient, diagnosis and high rate of relapse. Ovarian tumors have a wide range of clinical presentations including development of ascites as a result of deregulated endothelial function thereby causing increased vascular permeability of peritoneal vessels.

Childhood obesity prevention studies have yielded disappointing results. Understanding intervention fidelity is necessary in explaining why interventions are (or are not) successful and ultimately improving future intervention. In spite of this, intervention fidelity it is not consistently reported in the obesity prevention literature.

Longer duration of residence among immigrants to the United States, a proxy measure of acculturation, has been associated with higher subclinical atherosclerosis. South Asian immigrants are the second fastest growing immigrant group in the U.S. but little is known about the effects of acculturation with atherosclerosis in this high cardiovascular risk population.
