The Mediterranean Sea is catalogued worldwide as one of the 25 “hot spots” in terms of biological diversity [1]. However, it hosts many threatened species including turtles, marine mammals, rays and sharks, with chondrichthyans being the group exposed to the highest risk, with 42% of the species living under some type of threat [2]. On the other hand, a third of the other species studied in these waters, are not under any apparent risk [3].

The United States Department of Veterans Affairs has consistently denied the estimated 90,000 Vietnam veterans who served on ships off the coast of Vietnam that they were exposed to Agent Orange during the Vietnam War, and thus do not qualify for health care and compensation as provided for under the terms of the Agent Orange Act of 1991. Extensive scientific evidence and historical records concluded that it was highly unlikely that Blue Water Navy personnel were ever exposed to Agent Orange while serving off the coast of Vietnam.

Metabolic Syndrome (MetS) has been associated with subclinical changes in cardiac structure and function, including left ventricular diastolic dysfunction (LVDD) and is strong risk factors for the future development of clinical heart failure, and specifically increases the risk of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. To date, the evidence on the prevalence of subclinical LVDD in patient with MetS and relation to components of the MetS, in west region of the Republic of Macedonia are scarce.

Globally 42 million adults and children are estimated to be living with HIV/AIDS of which 22 million of these cases are in Sub Sahara Africa. In Zimbabwe 1.6 million adults aged 15 years and above are living with HIV/ AIDS and in Masvingo Province HIV/AIDS is ranked 2nd on the top ten causes of OPD attendance.

Hydatid disease of the pancreas is a rare condition, with an incidence of less than 1%. Establishing diagnosis may be difficult because clinical and imaging findings are similar to other more commonly encountered cystic lesions of the pancreas. We present a case of isolated Hydatid cyst in the tail of pancreas which masquerading as the mucinous cystic neoplasm of the pancreas.

The study explores the impact of varying levels of added sugar on the sensory characteristics of chocolate milk. Chocolate milk formulations were studied with five levels of added sugar (g): 0 (A), 7 (B), 14 (C), 21 (D) and 28 g (E) in 237 mL of chocolate milk. For Ranking Descriptive Analysis (RDA), the panel was composed of 15 assessors. The acceptance was evaluated by 190 assessors. Sample discrimination was correlated with sweetness flavor, texture, sweet aroma, chocolate flavor and creamy appearance. It was observed that attributes like sweet aroma, sweetness and texture showed a significant difference among the samples. Formulations C, D and E got higher grades 4 and attributes for milk A and B were less acceptable mainly regarding flavor and texture. The data showed that the samples containing the highest concentrations of added sugar were more preferred than those with lower sugar levels.

An 82 years old male presented to our clinic almost 11 years after initial incidental diagnosis of a 5cm abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) after which he was lost to follow up. He had stable vital signs and was found to have a large pulsatile mass upon abdominal examination. His laboratory tests were within normal limits.

In the past decade, finite element modeling of complete heart valves has greatly aided evaluation of heart valve surgery, design of bioprosthetic valve replacements, and general understanding of healthy and abnormal cardiac function. Such a model must be based on an accurate description of the mechanical behavior of the valve material. It is essential to calculate velocity/displacement, geometrical indices and strain rate/strain at a component level that is to work at the cellular level.

In this study, Macrobrachium nipponense tiny shrimp meats using two methods of drying and freezing along with metalized polyethylene pouches were kept for 6 months. Then their chemical properties (proximate composition, thiobarbituric acid (TBARS), peroxide value (PV), total volatile nitrogen (TVB-N) and free fatty acids (FFA)), microbial (total bacteria count) and sensory (odor, flavor, and color) analyses were evaluated.

A numerous methods are being used for synthesis of gold nanoparticles (NPs) in liquid media, in micelles and at different interfaces. The size and geometry of NPs depend on parameters of synthesis. Here we propose the growth of Au NPs on atomically flat mica surfaces. In such conditions the monocrystalline and isotropic NPs are being simultaneously formed on the surface.

Introduction: Among the neuroinflammatory disorder of CNS, Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis (ADEM) is a multifocal, subacute or acute onset disease that has got current interest of neurologists for its better outcome. Very few studies have been carried out on ADEM particularly in adults of our country. So we performed the study to describe short term motor outcome of hospital admitted ADEM patients.

The aim of this article was to assess the mental distress more extensively than has been done before and to determine likely predictors of distress and well-being issues. Moreover, the significant improvement needed in connection to medical students in the context of psychological signs, symptoms of mental distress, and solutions for the students with mental health distress and wellness perspectives were addressed.
