We report here on new optic and small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) measurements concerning the formation of the dispersions from double-stranded (ds) DNA molecules, doped with negatively charged gold nanoparticles (nano-Au). The nano-Au fixation nearby the surfaces of linear ds DNA in solution of high ionic strength (0.3 M NaCl) and subsequent phase exclusion of (ds DNA-nano-Au) complexes from solution containing poly(ethylene glycol) results in decrease in the amplitude of abnormal negative band in the circular dichroism spectra of the formed cholesteric liquid-crystalline dispersions (CLCD).

Coronary Artery Diseases (CAD) is one of the most prevalent causative agents of morbidity and mortality, worldwide [1]. Many studies have been reported the role of statins that not only reduce risk of myocardial infarction, stroke and mortality in high risk individuals but also improve clinical outcomes among patients undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention

Extramedullary hematopoiesis (EMH) is a compensatory reaction caused by the presence of hematopoietic precursors outside the bone marrow, ineffective erythropoiesis and patients with chronic hemolytic anemia. The most frequent cause of EMH is thalassemia intermedia, that produces an increase in demand of the hematopoietic system caused by anemia and is not reduced by transfusion therapy.

‘Cubital tunnel syndrome represents the second most common nerve compression syndrome. While mild cases have been well treated conservatively at first hand, surgical therapy should be considered early on, because atrophy of the intrinsic muscles is often irreversible.

The C28/I2 line of immortalized juvenile human chondrocytes was employed to determine the extent to which recombinant human (rh) interleukin-6 (rhIL-6), the interleukin-6-like cytokine, rh-oncostatin M, and the adipokine, rh-adiponectin, activated extracellularsignal regulated kinase (ERK1/2), p38α mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38α MAPK) and c-Jun-amino-terminal kinase (JNK).

Over-consumption of food energy entails body fat accumulation, overweight, obesity and increased risks of diseases. It is also indirectly associated with poor body condition followed by forced rest periods and limitations of activities and tasks. At community or global level, excess body weight could indirectly influence the environment by advancing food demand and the pressure on food production resources.

The prevalence of overweight and obesity among US adults is well-documented and lifestyle intervention remains the foundation for all overweight and obesity treatment interventions, even when bariatric surgery is offered. Unfortunately, lifestyle intervention, though clearly a vital part of any obesity treatment, including bariatric surgery, has not been found to be as effective in achieving health benefits as hoped for.

The aim of this review is to describe the role of nuclear imaging modalities using different radiotracers such as labeled nor-cholesterol, metaiodobenzylguanidine (MIBG) and deoxy-glucose (FDG) in the diagnostic evaluation of patients with adrenal tumours to perform lesion characterization in comparison with MR imaging.

Identification of risk factors for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is important to enable comprehensive intervention to reduce OSA-related cardiovascular disease (CVD). The metabolic syndrome outcome study (MetSO) provides a unique opportunity to address these factors. This study investigated risk of OSA among blacks with metabolic syndrome.

This article summarizes the advantages of orally disintegrating tablets (ODTs) as well as critical issues during evaluation of ODTs such as bioequivalence and challenges and limitations of ODTs and finally present and the future of ODTs. ODTs have received everincreasing demand and the field has become a rapidly growing area in the pharmaceutical industry.

A fucoidan with high ester sulfate content (38-40% by weight) has been isolated in a commercial scale process from Laminaria hyperborea harvested from the western coast of Norway. This is the first characterization of a fucoidan from this species of macroalgae. Ultra purified samples with negligible endotoxin levels were evaluated for cytokine expression in cultured human mononuclear cells.

Candida species are ubiquitous fungi and the most common fungal pathogens affecting humans. The aim of this study were to evaluate the epidemiology and describe the characteristics of patients with documented infections superficial or invasive caused by Candida species isolates in a Constantine teaching hospital and determine the risk factors.
