Genetic Relatedness and Characterization of O25b-B2-ST131, in Stool Isolates of Extended-Spectrum Cephalosporin-Resistant Escherichia Coli Strains in Healthy Children under 10 Years of Age

Background and Purpose: Escherichia coli (E. coli) is one of the multidrug-resistant pathogens, producing extendedspectrum beta-lactamase enzymes. Molecular typing of this pathogen can be useful for determining the source of dissemination and transfer of resistance and virulence genes of these isolates. Considering the significance of infection in children, in this study, we examined the stool flora of children (<10 years) to show the characteristics and clonal relationship of the isolates.

Haemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis with Partial Albinism-Griscelli Syndrome Type II

Hypopigmentation syndromes represent a readily distinguished group of diseases. Pigment dilution may involve skin, hair and iris, and is generally manifested at birth. Genetic defects of melanin biosynthesis are inherited as autosomal recessive. Griscelli syndrome is a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterised by partial albinism with or without neurological/immunological abnormalities. We report a nine year old child with Griscelli Syndrome type II with Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis.

A New Bi-Functional Derivative of Polyethylene Glycol as Molecular Carrier for Eugenol and Ibuprofen

Eugenol (EU) and ibuprofene (IBU) were covalently bound to a bi-functionalized PEG, used as molecular carrier of drugs and the release kinetics of the two bioactive molecules was studied in vitro in buffer solution at pH 7.4, in simulated gastric fluid and in mouse plasma.

Unusual Variant of Guillain-Barré Syndrome Following Hepato-biliary Surgery — A Rare Case Report

Guillain-barré syndrome (G.B. Syndrome) is an acute inflammatory poly-radiculoneuropathy characterized by weakness and areflexia typically following viral infection, vaccination, and rarely surgery. Acute Inflammatory Demyelinating Poly-radiculoneuropathy is the most common subtype of G.B. Syndrome. Although post-operative G.B. syndrome is a rare entity, there are few case reports of G.B. syndrome after gastric surgery. But there have been no reported case scenarios of atypical variety of this neurologic entity following hepato billiary surgery. Hence our objective is to put forward this message to the readers.

Parenteral Nutrition Utilization in Bone Marrow Transplant Recipients

Bone marrow transplant (BMT) recipients often require parenteral nutrition (PN) to meet their nutrient needs. While general guidelines for the provision of PN support by nutrition support teams (NSTs) have been shown to decrease inappropriate PN use, recommendations for nutrition in BMT recipients are lacking.
