Exercise and Eating Habits in Relation to BMI in Female College Students of Almareefa Colleges in Ad Diriyah
The benefits of exercise have been known a long time ago, physical activity is an important factor to reduce the risk of unhealthy weigh. Certain types of foods, eating habits have been linked to weight and BMI. The purpose of the study was to identify the relationship between exercise, eating habits and BMI. This was an observational descriptive cross-sectional university-based study of 100 female medical students of Almaarefa Colleges from level 3 to 8, participants were chosen randomly and questionnaires were distributed among them and anthropometric measurements were taken for BMI calculations. Out of 100 female medical students, 52% were of a normal weight category at level 5-6. Obesity was only seen among level 3-4 (12%).57% of normal weight participants don’t eat very fast. 52% of normal weight participants exercise and 35% of them exercise 3 times or more a week. No obese participants were seen in those who exercise 3 times a week or more. 60% of overweight/obese participants exercise 2 times or less a week. This study revealed a strong association between physical activity and BMI, also fast eating was found to be associated with obesity.
Comparison of Weight Gain, Milk Production, and Milk Composition of Iranian Mamasani Goat and its Cross with Saanen
Crossbreeding can be a breeding strategy to facilitate genetic improvement in native goat production. For this purpose, the performance of weight gain, milk production and milk composition of native Mamasani goat with Mamasani goat × Saanen (F1) as crossed goat breed during 2012 to 2014 years were compared. According to the results, effect of genetic groups on birth weight (BW) was not significant but Weaning weight (WW) was significant (P <0.05). The average birth weight and weaning weight for native Mamasani and crossed F1 goats were 2.85 ± 0.23; 2.98 ± 0.19 and 9.52 ± 0.28; 11.61 ± 0.28 respectivel
Bubonic Plague Outbreak Investigation in the Endemic District of Tsiroanomandidy - Madagascar, October 2014
Plague remains a major public health problem in Madagascar. Faced with reports of plague cases and deaths in Tsiroanomandidy district, we performed an investigation in October 2014.Our aim was to describe the plague outbreak and to improve the national plague control strategies. We used the National plague control program case definition. We identified cases from outpatient registers and collected socio-demographic and clinical information. Plague circulation was determined through a retrospective environmental survey of rodents and vectors.
Sero-Prevalence of Small Ruminant Brucellosis in Three Selected Districts of Somali Region, Eastern Ethiopia
A cross-sectional study was conducted from November, 2011 to March, 2012 in three selected districts of Jijiga zone, Somali region, Ethiopia, aimed at determining the sero-prevalence and to identify potential risk factors of small ruminant Brucellosis. A total of 291 serum samples (100 from sheep and 191 from goats) were collected from extensive management system with no history of vaccination. All serum samples were initially screened by RBPT and positive reactors to RBPT were further tested by CFT for confirmation. Accordingly, the overall prevalence of Brucellosis in small ruminants was 1.37% (4/291).
Serum Haptoglobin Responses following Rumenotomy in the Sahel Goat
Fifteen Sahel goats were randomly allocated into three groups A, B and C to evaluate Serum Haptoglobin (Hp) profiles following rumenotomy as markers of surgical stress using Quantitative ELISA.
How Should we Screen Overweight and Obese Adolescents for Risk of Type 2 Diabetes in Large Public Health Initiatives?
To develop a valid method to identify insulin resistance (IR) in overweight and obese adolescents without requiring a fasting blood sample.
Triple Synchronous Colon Tumors Causing Large Bowel Obstruction
We would like to present two patients with triple localized, synchronous colon tumors who underwent emergency operations for obstruction. The second and third localizations were discovered during the operation.
Development and Validation of Knowledge, Attitude and Practice on Healthy Lifestyle Questionnaire (KAP-HLQ) for Malaysian Adolescents
To develop and determine validity and reliability of the Knowledge, Attitude and Practice on Healthy Lifestyle Questionnaire (KAP-HLQ) among lower secondary adolescents.
Increased High Mobility Group Protein A2/SMAD3 Relates to Ovarian Cancer Progression
The high mortality associated with ovarian cancer is generally related to the development of drug-resistant disease. HMGA2 protein, a member of the high-mobility group AT-hook (HMGA) family of non-histone chromatin binding factors, is overexpressed in high-grade serous ovarian and tubal carcinomas, though little is known about its contribution to disease progression and drug resistance. We sought to assess whether compositional changes in HMGA2 production were associated with ovarian cancer progression.
Do Expression Profiles of Cytokines VEGF, TNF- α, IL-1β, IL-6 and IL-8 Correlate with Gallbladder Cancer?
Gallbladder carcinoma is a multifactorial disease with a complex interplay at molecular levels. Here we look at the expression of specific cytokines (TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8 and VEGF) in GBC patients to develop them as biomarkers of gallbladder cancer.
Milk Drinking Patterns among Malaysian Urban Children of Different Household Income Status
Milk consumption is popular in Malaysia especially among the younger ages. Nonetheless, there is a lack of quantitative data on milk consumption by children in Malaysia.
The Ni(II) Complex of 2-Hydroxy-Pyridine-N-Oxide 2-Isothionate: Synthesis, Characterization, Biological Studies, and X-ray Crystal Structures using (1) Cu Kα Data and (2) Synchrotron Data
C12H20N6NiO6S2 or NiL2(SCN)2](NH4)2.2H2O, where L is 2-hydroxy-pyridine-N-oxide, has been prepared and characterized using elemental analyses, IR, UV and visible spectrometry, magnetic moment measurements, thermal analyses and single crystal X-ray analyis. The results indicate that the complex reacts as a bidentate ligand and is bound to the metal ion via the two oxygen atoms of the ligand (HL).
