Antiradical and Antibacterial Activities of The Ethanolic Extract of Terminalia Avicennioides Guill. and Perr. (Combretaceae) from Chad

Oxidative stress associated with bacterial infections, are recognized as being a key factor in the appearance and complications of many chronic pathologies. To help overcome these difficulties, herbal remedies are one of the alternatives for the development of traditionally improved drugs. The objective of this work is to evaluate the antiradical and antibacterial activities of the ethanolic extract of the bark of the trunk of Terminalia avicennioides. Assessment of Bacteriological Quality of Raw Bulk Milk of Camel, Cow and Goat from Local Markets in Yabello District, Borana Zone, Oromia Regional State

The study was conducted from September 2020 to June 2021 to assess the bacteriological quality of raw bulk milk from urban and rural local market sites in Borana pastoral area of Oromia Regional State, Southern Ethiopia. A total of 78 milk samples were collected and analyzed for bacterial load using standard plate count and coliform count techniques and isolation of pathogenic bacteria was conducted. The total mean aerobic bacterial counts of raw bulk milk samples of camel, cow and goat were 8.51 log cfu/ml, 8.73 log cfu/ml and 8.54 log cfu/ml respectively. Regarding the location of milk market sites, the mean total aerobic bacterial count was 8.72 log cfu/ml and 8.49 log cfu/ml in urban and rural milk market sites respectively. The total mean coliform counts of raw bulk milk samples of camel, cow and goat were 6.51log cfu/ml, 6.55 log cfu/ml and 6.47 log cfu/ml respectively. Regarding the location of milk market sites the total mean coliform counts was 6.63 log cfu/ml and 6.40log cfu/ml from urban and rural milk market sites respectively. Comparing the mean differences of the total mean aerobic and coliform bacterial counts, there was no significant mean differences (p>0.05) among the animal milk samples. However, there was significant mean differences (p<0.05) among the milk market sites. Different bacterial species were isolated from camel, cow and goat raw milk sample from the urban and rural milk market sites. The major bacterial isolates were Staphylococcus (both pathogenic and non-pathogenic), Escherichia coli and Bacillus species. Generally, the unhygienic milk handling resulted in poor milk quality in the pastoral area. Therefore, there is a need of training for persons at the various milk market sites on strict hygienic measures to improve the bacteriological safety of cow milk.

Photodegradation, Antibacterial & Antioxidant Assessment of Multifunctional Zinc Oxide Metal Nanoparticles Using Smilax aspera Leaf Extract: An Eco Approach

The endeavor of this research accounts for a superficial green route scheme by using an extract of leaves of Smilax aspera as a stabilizing and capping agent. Zinc Oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs) were examined through UV-visible Spectrophotometer, X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), EDX (Energy Dispersive X-rays spectroscopy), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). The NPs demonstrates potential photo catalytic activity for the degradation of Methyl Orange (MO) and Methylene Blue (MB) dyes upon exposure to sunlight.

Effect of Measurement of Total Organic Carbon Compounds to Improve Water Quality in the Shortest Time

Novel Multi-Functional Dental Cement for Enamel Remineralization and AntiCariogenic Bacteria Activity

This experimental study evaluated the release of fluoride and several minerals related to remineralization from novel functional cement, apatite ionomer cement (AIC), and its anti-bacterial properties compared with glass ionomer cement (GIC) and surface pre-reacted glass-ionomer filler containing composite resin (giomer). Conventional GIC (Fuji III, GC Co., Tokyo, Japan) was used as the control and fundamental materials. In the AIC powder, 28% wt of GIC powder was replaced with spherical-shaped hydroxyapatite powder. The giomer, BeautiSealant (Shofu Co., Kyoto, Japan), was used as a positive control. Each specimen was immersed in deionized water and analyzed by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (for Al, Si, P, Ca and Sr) and a fluoride-selective electrode. Antibacterial activity against Streptococccus mutans was evaluated using the adenosine-5’-triphosphate luminescence method. Concentrations of released ions from AIC specimens were significantly higher than those from GIC and giomer specimens. Regarding antibacterial activity, luminescence intensity of the AIC group was significantly lower than that of the control and giomer groups. It was concluded that AIC could be a most suitable material for pit and fissure sealant for enamel remineralization and anti-cariogenic and -bacterial activity.

Potential of Producing Hydrogen Gas from Straw by Anaerobic Thermal Shocked Biological Sludge to Create Clean Energy

Hydrogen gas has been used widely in the industrial aspect, especially as clean energy. On one hand, it reduces the dependency on fossil fuels; on the other hand, it solves the environmental polluting issue and also reduces the greenhouse gases emitted to the environment. Producing hydrogen by chemical and physical methods require higher fee and investment. Producing hydrogen from renewable biomass, especially agricultural waste such as straws, can produce with low cost and decrease the amount of agricultural waste and pollutions. This article introduces the result of the beginning research to produce hydrogen gas from straw using biotechnology.

Bacterial Probiotics their Importances and Limitations: A Review

Every animal hosts large number of microorganisms most of which affect its body positively. Such positive effect is induced by probiotics, live microbial food ingredients that alter the enteric microflora and have a beneficial effect on the health of an animal. There are many different varieties of friendly bacteria that exist naturally in foods or drinks, or can be added to foods or beverages to enhance health and wellbeing of animals. Isolation, Identification, and Characterization of the Novel Antibacterial Agent Methoxyphenyl-Oxime from Streptomyces pratensis QUBC97 Isolate

Streptomyces species are medically, industrially, and microbiologically important bacteria that are found in soils and other habitats. Streptomyces isolates and QUBC97 were cultured on a new medium (CCG). Agar plug diffusion test showed antibacterial activity. N-butanol extracts analysed by silica thin layer chromatography (TLC), HPLC purified and identified by MS analysis. QUBC97 was identified based on morphology, PCR, and DNA sequencing of two loci.
