Fish oils are the most common source of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 PUFAs), mainly eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). It has been pointed out protective effects and beneficial effects of EPA on body weight reduction, heart health, blood lipid profile, cardiovascular diseases and other diseases. Based on its biological activities, EPA may be developed to a complementary and alternative medicine through further research. In this paper, the pharmacological effects of EPA were summarized by reviewing the recent related literatures.

The present study confirms the potential use of seaweed extracts as a source of antifungal compound and may constitute a basis for promising future applied research that could investigate the use of seaweeds.

The nano-Au fixation nearby the surfaces of linear ds DNA in solution of high ionic strength (0.3 M NaCl) and subsequent phase exclusion of (ds DNA-nano-Au) complexes from solution containing poly(ethylene glycol) results in decrease in the amplitude of abnormal negative band in the circular dichroism spectra of the formed cholesteric liquid-crystalline dispersions (CLCD).

A fucoidan with high ester sulfate content (38-40% by weight) has been isolated in a commercial scale process from Laminaria hyperborea harvested from the western coast of Norway.
