Assessment of Antioxidant and Antineoplastic Activities Blumea Lacera (Burn. F) Leaves
Blumea lacera (Burn. f.) DC. (Family: Asteraceae) is an important member of Bangladeshi natural plant resource and it is an herbaceous weed locally known as Kukursunga. Different parts of this plant are used traditionally to cure various diseases. But detail study on the antioxidant and antineoplastic potentials of Blumea lacera leaves, has not yet been done. Aim of this study is to examine the antioxidant and antineoplastic properties and quantify the different type of phytochemical content of the methanolic extract of leaves of Blumea lacera (MELB). MELB contained a rich polyphenol, flavonol, flavonoid and proanthocyanidins. MELB showed moderate cytotoxic effect against Artemia salina (brine shrimp nauplii) where its LD50 values was 66.12 μg/ml. In vitro antioxidant assay, MELB exhibited a remarkable capacity to scavenge the tested reactive species. MELB scavenged DPPH with an IC50 of 33.64 μg/mL and 42.69 μg/mL, respectively. In vivo antineoplastic assay, MELB significantly (P<0.05) decreased viable cell count and increased the survival time of EAC cell bearing mice. Hematological profiles were also restored significantly (P<0.05) to normal levels in MELB treated mice as compared to untreated EAC control mice. In addition, fluorescence microscopic view of EAC cells derived from MELB-treated group showed apoptotic characteristics in treated cells compared to untreated EAC control. our findings suggest that methanolic extract of Blumea lacera leaves(MELB) might be a potential agent with antioxidant properties for prevention of cancer and has the merit for further investigation in isolating its active constituents.
Right Ovarian Vein Thrombophlebitis Complicated by an Inferior Endocaval Floating Thrombus Revealed by Postpartum Pyrexia: A Case Report
The clinical course of our patient highlights an atypical presentation of thromboembolic disease related to pregnancy, a thrombophlebitis of the right ovarian vein with endocaval floating thrombus. The diagnosis remains difficult since it is a rare entity with an atypical presentation but with serious medical consequences.

In Vitro Antioxidant Activity of Aqueous Extracts from the Atemoya Fruit (Peel, Pulp, and Seed): Correlation of Their Protein, Carbohydrate, and Phenolic Compound Contents
The properties of several fruits still remain unevaluated, with regard to being the source of antioxidant compounds, one of such fruits being atemoya. In this study, three parts (seed, pulp, and peel) of atemoya were submitted to extraction. Five water volume ratios (1:1, 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, and 1:10) were used in relation to the same material mass rendered, thus, five extracts from each part.

Case Report: Are We Prepared to Manage Acute Abdomen in the Super-Obese Patient?
A 55 year-old man with signs and symptoms of severe sepsis was admitted to the emergency department. He is severely obese with a BMI of 80 Kg/ m2 and a medical history of hypertension and arrhythmia. The abdominal pain was non-specific and the physical examination was impaired by obesity. Ultrasonography (US) was ineffective and no computed tomography (CT) scan was available for a patient of his weight. The acute abdomen presented an inflammatory etiology. The patient underwent laparoscopy and severe cholecystitis was diagnosed and treated. The patient recovered well, and remained for 36h in the intensive care unit and 5 days in the surgical ward.
Hysteroscopic Evaluation of the Uterine Cavity in Women with First-Trimester Missed Miscarriage: Case Series
The aim of this study was to identify the value of hysteroscopy in detection of the relationship between missed miscarriage and intrauterine pathologies. The study was held at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Benha University. It included 90 women with 1st trimester missed miscarriage who were examined by diagnostic hysteroscopy immediately before dilatation and curettage (D&C) and 6-8 weeks after D&C (second look hysteroscopy).
