Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) are closely-related, severe, acute life-threatening, drug-induced skin and mucosal disorders with a high mortality rate or long-term damages. These medical conditions are considered a delayed, typeIV hypersensitivity reaction and can be triggered by drugs, infections and malignancies.

Bioavailability of two formulations containing levetiracetam 750 mg film-coated tablets was compared in a fasting bioequivalence study. The study was single dose, randomized, open label, and two-period crossover, with Brazilian healthy subjects, males and nonpregnant females. Blood samples were taken for 36 hours after drug administration and plasmatic concentrations were determined using a validated HPLC-MS/MS method. Confidence intervals (CI90%) for the peak plasma concentration (Cmax) and area under the
concentration-time curve (AUC0-t) were determined by calculating LN-transformed data. The ratios and 90% CI for the geometric mean test/reference were 97.41% (91.45- 103.75%) for Cmax and 99.77% (97.07- 102.54%) for AUC0-t.

Despite the well-established importance of early cervical cancer detection, there are no clear data about the prevalence of cervical intraepithelial lesions among Egyptian population due to lack of screening programs. Thus, we conducted this study in order to assess the prevalence of inflammatory, premalignant and malignant cervical lesions among Egyptian population using Pap smear test.

Colostrum-derived transfer factors are among the highest potential natural immunostimulatory food supplements. In our study, we evaluated the possible effects of supplementation with various compositions that included transfer factors in phagocytosis, TNF-α and IL-2 secretion, antibody formation and NK cells activity. We found significant improvements of all these immune reactions after 7 days of supplementation.

Hand-Foot-and-Mouth Disease (HFMD) is an epidemic childhood illness caused by enteroviruses including enterovirus A71 (EVA71), coxsackievirus A16 (CV-A16) and coxsackievirus A6 (CV-A6). This disease mainly affects children under 5 years of age, causing typical skin rash such as papulovesicular rash on the palms, feet, and mouth. However, atypical clinical signs may include eruption in others anatomic sites, palmar and plantar desquamation and onychomadesis. Severe complications including encephalitis, myocarditis or meningitis can occur.

Thousands of patients are annually diagnosed with Frozen Shoulder (FS) or adhesive capsulitis, where the joint capsule contracts and becomes less flexible. The condition is painful, with reduced range of motion (ROM) in the shoulder and arm and causes great suffering, often with difficulty sleeping and greatly reduced work ability. The treatment given today is partly conventional treatment with cortisone or NSAID preparations as well as physiotherapy and other therapeutic treatment which usually have limited effect. The study investigates whether myofascial treatment, using a device generating deep pulsating vibrations, can provide increased ROM and facilitate for these patients. 23 patients diagnosed with FS were included in the study. Three treatments were performed, within set time intervals. The ROM was measured before and after each treatment, pictures were taken with a thermography camera and angles were measured. The result showed that 87 percent got an increased ROM by 30 degrees or more, that 52 percent of the patients improved
ROM by 60 degrees or more, and that 30 percent regained full ROM. 61 percent of the patients also reported improved quality of sleep. The study indicates that this treatment could possibly improve ROM and well-being for patients with FS. Further studies are recommended to evaluate and validate these findings. A validated treatment of FS could mean great socioeconomic benefits and an increased quality of life for patients diagnosed with FS.

Taxus baccata is one of the most poisonous trees in the world. It contains taxanes and toxic alkaloids: the most dangerous one is the taxine. It is a fairly common plant in our environment and could be extremely dangerous; however, yew poisoning is quite rare. Cases may occur by voluntary or accidental ingestion. Therefore, the rapid orientation and diagnosis of suspected episode are important, in order to treat it quickly.

Pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE) is characterized by a progressive fragmentation and calcification of elastic fibers in connective tissue and when Bruch membrane (BM) is affected ocular modifications can be found. Recently, Optical coherence tomography-angiography (OCT-A) contribute to a better comprehension of lesions in PXE.

Worldwide, stockpiled cement kiln dust (CKD) has been neither properly disposed, nor profitably utilized. Mostly it contains ≥6 wt % alkali metal salts; therefore, it cannot be reused as a raw material in clinker manufacturing in cement industry. In the present work, a facile water treatment, before and after calcination (at 500-1000 oC) of CKD, was designed and found to help leaching out the salt content that renders CKD reusable in the clinker manufacturing.

Hip dislocation occurs when axial loading force is transmitted through intact femoral shaft to the hip joint leading to a posterior dislocation of the femoral head with or without posterior acetabular fracture. However dislocation of the hip with associated fracture of the trochanter, neck or shaft of femur is uncommon in literature. We present the case of a 56 year old patient who fell from a height. Clinical and imaging [radiography, CT] examination revealed a comminuted greater trochanteric fracture associated with ipsilateral posterior hip dislocation.
