Electronic Devices (Wcr) and Covid-19 Vaccine Adr: Myocarditys and Pericarditis - Epidemiology and Physiology of an Interesting Phenomena Hypotesys of Work

Aim of this work is to observe some epidemiological pattern related heart pathology like pericarditis and myocarditis in last decades and the toxicological effect played by various WRC wireless communication radiations as described by scientific literature. All this related the class age distribution of some Rare ADR by various covid-19 vaccines like Pericarditis and miocarditis (more frequent in young) and the use of electronic device WCR among the subpopulation. Effectiveness of a Community-based Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Program to the Elderly Recovered from Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious disease that affects patients’ lung function and thus exercise tolerance. Elderly patients have shown to have more severe and long-term symptoms after contracting COVID-19. Limited evidence has been published on the effectiveness of cardiopulmonary rehabilitation programme for elderly patients recovered from COVID-19. Distribution of Dengue Virus Serotypes during the COVID 19 Pandemic in Sri Lanka

Background: Dengue virus (DENV) infection is highly endemic in Sri Lanka with frequent epidemics. Knowledge on DENV serotype distribution will provide important information on impending epidemics. Understanding the disease burden of DENV infection during COVID-19 pandemic is highly important. Objective: To analyze the incidence of DENV infection and serotype distribution among clinically suspected patients with DENV infection during COVID-19 pandemic in Sri Lanka. Study Design: This retrospective study analyzed 1796 plasma samples from patients with clinically suspected DENV infection received at Medical Research Institute (MRI), for testing of DENV RNA, from May 2019 to April 2021. Detection of viraemia and serotypes was performed using a commercially-validated serotyping real-time Reverse Transcriptase Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR). Demographic and clinical details were recruited from accompanying request forms. Results were analyzed using descriptive statistics and chi square testing. Results: Of the samples 69.2% (n=1243) became positive for DENV RNA with 55.34% (n=688) belonging to patients under 16 years and 20.99%(n=261) to patients with severe infection. The vireamic rate ranged from 31.9% to 80.12% during different quarters of the study period. DENV-2 was detected in 40.2% (n=500) followed by DENV-3(37.97%,n=472) and DENV-1(15.44%,n=192) while co-infection with two different serotypes was observed in 5.79%(n=72). DENV3(47.5%,n=124) and DENV-2(39.46%, n=103) exhibited high percentage of positivity among patients with severe infection. Conclusions: Incidence of Dengue virus infection in Sri Lanka showed a noticeable decrease during study period. DENV2 and DENV-3 exhibited dominance with re-emergence of DENV-1 and co-infection with multiple serotypes. DENV-2 and DENV-3 were detected with severe infection predominantly.

Maximal Distance of Splatters and Droplets Projections Produced by Dental Air and Water-Cooled Instruments Around a Dental Chair in an Open-Plan Area

A dental chair and its environment can be contaminated with droplet/splatter and aerosol particles, which contain various pathogens, including SARS-Cov-2, that can be transmitted by contact or inhalation. We aimed to evaluate the maximal distance of droplet/splatter projections for four different air and water-cooled dental instruments using a patient simulator, to define the boundaries of the open-plan area contaminated immediately after treatment. We used a dental chair unit placed in a room in the open-plan area. Fluorescent powder was added to water, to know the maximal distance reached by the droplet/splatter on the surfaces of the dental room covered with white sheets. Dental care was performed in an artificial mouth using either an air turbine handpiece, a high-speed electric contra-angle, an ultrasonic scaler, or an air/powder polisher with a constant volume of colored water. Maximal distances of droplet/splatter projections were measured after identifying the fluorescent patterns on the surfaces. Calculated heights and angles were then used after normalization to know the maximal distance that could be reached by these projections. In these conditions, the theoretical maximal distance of droplet/splatter projection was 295 cm for the air-powder polisher, followed by 238 cm for the high-speed electric contra-angle, 93 cm for the air turbine and 77 cm for the ultrasonic scaler. Theoretical projections for the ultrasonic scaler did not go beyond the dental room. In our open-plan area, droplet/splatter projections can extend beyond the dental room entrance, but not over 1.80 m-high partitions, and could contaminate areas located nearby. Simple preventive measures would be to limit the perimeter of these projections, for example by installing a door, in addition to measures to limit the scope of aerosols.

SARS-CoV-2 Pneumonia in A Preterm New born Treated Successfully by Dexamethasone

Data on illness in preterm infants due to severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) is limited. Duration of viral shedding and treatment options including use of dexamethasone to treat SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia in preterm newborns are scarce and not-well reported. We are reporting SARS-COV-2 positive sick preterm twins vertically infected from SARS-COV-2 positive unvaccinated mother. Twin B initially tested negative at 24 & 48 hours of life (HOL) but subsequently tested positive at 72 HOL and developed SARS-COV-2 pneumonia and required a longer duration of respiratory support. We treated her with 10 days of dexamethasone and noted a good clinical response. To our knowledge, we are first to report the use dexamethasone in a premature newborn with SARS-COV-2 pneumonia. Additionally, the duration of viral shedding in both Twin A and Twin B was between 4-5 weeks.

Potential COVID-19 Therapeutics: A Perspective on Pharmacological Properties and Safety

There are no guidelines for pharmacological treatment of COVID-19 disease, but several drugs are being tested every day in search of an optimal therapeutic strategy. The drugs that have been tested, so far, include some antiviral drugs such as danoprevir, favipiravir, darunavir, nelfinavir, remdesivir, umifenovir and the combination lopinavir/ritonavir. Others are drugs targeting inflammatory mediators such as meplazumab, siltuximab, tocilizumab, azithromycin and corticosteroids. Also included in this array of tested drugs are those with pleiotropic actions against SARS-CoV-2 infection like chloroquine/hydroxychloroquine, ivermectin and nitazoxanide, postulated as inhibitors of several phases of virus life cycle. Upon diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection, it is pertinent to embark on a treatment approach based on potential antiviral options, adequately managed under proper medical situation. We suggest that, in addition to the antiviral option efforts, drugs targeting inflammatory mediators should be considered.

Effect of Stigma on COVID-19 Cases Management at the Treatment Unit of the Yaounde Central Hospital, Cameroon

The coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) has affected the whole world causing the lives of many victims. Africa has recorded more than a million cases and Cameroon around 18,600 cases (August 2020) since the first case was notified. The rapid spread of this disease, (among other factors), could have contributed to create a situation of fear and stigma among affected populations. It is, therefore, necessary to identify the characteristics of this stigma and its effect on the case management of this disease.

Characterizing the Etiologies of Seizures and Cortical Myoclonic Activity in Covid-19 Patients and their Impact on Outcomes

Systematic literature review was conducted. Criteria included seizures, status epilepticus, and/or CMA developing prior to or during hospitalization, with concomitant COVID-19. COVID-19 severity was dichotomized into mild and severe cases, based on severity of respiratory symptoms. Good outcome was defined as discharge without severe deficits and/or return to near baseline.

Auricular Transcutaneous Vagus Nerve Stimulation may Increase the Risk of MildCOVID-19 Infection or of Herpetic Flare: Is there a Role of Microbiota?

SARS-CoV-2 can reach the central nervous system through the vagal nerve. Microbiota may favour or prevent viral spread. Assess whether auricular transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation (ATVNS) may favour the occurrence of mild-COVID-19 or the recurrence of herpes simplex type 1. 749 patients were included. 195 patients were recommended and comply with ATVNS. 67 patients of the ATVNS group experienced mild-COVID-19 (34.3%) versus only 28 in the not-recommended ATVNS group (525 patients; 5.3%). A similar percentage was observed in the non-compliant ATVNS group (one case for 29 patients; 3.4%) [p<0.001].

Hemoglobin SC Disease with COVID-19 Presenting with Multiple Infarcts and Acute Splenic Sequestration Crises

Hb SC disease is a type of hemoglobinopathy that can be viewed as a hybrid of hemoglobin S and C. In this disorder there is co-inheritance of one Hbs gene and one HbC gene resulting in a milder phenotype than sickle cell anemia (SCA). Whereas SCA clinical features have been extensively studied, very few studies have been dedicated specifically to HbSC disease as most cases are reported to be silent or of mild severity. As the pandemic continues to evolve with the novel Sars-CoV-2 virus we have learned it can lead to thrombotic complications which could be fatal if not detected early. Of those requiring admission to the intensive care unit, most carry multiple comorbidities (hypertension, diabetes mellitus etc.) leading to worse clinical outcomes. Here, we present a case of a young adult patient with silent hemoglobin SC disease who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 leading to multiple infarcts, splenic sequestration and respiratory failure. The concurrence of a hemoglobinopathy and COVID-19 should warrant heightened clinical suspicion for unusual outcomes. Hence, providers must remain vigilant while treating any patient with any hemoglobinopathy in the setting of COVID-19.
