The novel coronavirus, SARS-COV-2, that has emerged as pneumonia (COVID-19), is raising global concern. The current study aimed to quantify the diagnostic value of platelet count for the disease severity assessment.

Endometritis is a common disease in peripartum livestock leading to economic losses. A two-year-old, primiparous Egyptian Baladi doe suffered from mucopurulent endometritis. In a standing position using a new treatment called SAT, 10 ml of boiling water (≈100 oC) was slowly injected within the uterine lumen. Peripheral blood and cervical discharge samples were collected before injection (bi) and at 8, 24, 48, 96, 144 and 216 hrs. post injection (pi) and were sent to the lab.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a common yet distressing condition afflicting tissues of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract in companion animals; symptoms include vomiting, diarrhoea, loss of appetite and weight loss. Pathogenesis of IBD may link to both diet and parasitic or bacterial infections of the gut. Although current treatments may provide some relief to the animal, unfortunately recurrent flaring of symptoms is not uncommon. Therapeutic interventions available to the veterinarian include those that focus on treating any underlying infection and or a change in diet, both employed with the aim of reducing inflammation.

The main objective of the present work was to study the population trend of the Seychelles scale, Icerya seychellarum (Westwood) (Hemiptera: Monophlebidae) on guava trees at Abu-Suwair district in Ismailia Governorate, Egypt during two consecutive years (2018-19). The results showed that insect population was recorded on guava trees all the year round and has three peaks of seasonal activity per year i.e., June, August/September and November.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic inflammatory condition not commonly associated with cancer. Although since 1993 with the introduction of disease modifying therapies (DMTs), changing the natural history of the disease, cancer risk appears associated with some of these new therapies. We present the most common risks associated with each DMTs.

Multiple myeloma is a malignant disease caused by monoclonal proliferation of multiple myeloma plasma cells [1]. In patients, high-dose melphalan chemotherapy and autologous stem cell transplantation are administered. Common side effects of high dose melphalan are oral mucositis, enteritis, and neutropenia [2].

Developmental delay (DD) / intellectual disability (ID) is considered one of the most genetically heterogeneous human diseases. Herein, we described a Chinese boy affected by DD/ID with 3-methylcrotonyl-CoA carboxylase deficiency (MCCD) and 3-hydroxy3-methylglutaric aciduria (3-HMG), which associated with a novel missense hemizygous mutation, c.4442C>T, within the acidic domain of HCFC1 gene identified by whole exon sequencing (WES) and validated by Sanger sequencing.

Immunodepletion of high-abundant proteins (HAPs) aids in the identification and analysis of low-abundant proteins (LAPs) in complex samples. Currently, immunodepletion methods for bovine samples are very limited whereas greater availability exists for human and murine animal samples. In this study, we report the simultaneous depletion of HAPs from bovine samples using an immunoaffinity depletion cartridge (the multiple affinity removal system, MARS) designed to target six human HAPs, while such a depletion kit for bovine samples is not available.

Tepilamide fumarate (PPC-06) is a new, patented prodrug of monomethyl fumarate (MMF), belonging to the fumaric acid esters (FAEs) class of drugs. However, continuous use of branded product may cause economic burden to patients and healthcare system. The Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO), Thailand had developed a generic product of clopidogrel to reduce cost of treatment and improve accessibility to medicines for Thai people.
